| Not Ranked : 0 score So what's in question then the lugs or the shitty OEM studs? I mean if the lugs are as bad as you and everyone else are stating it shouldn't matter how long the studs are Correct? If length of the stud matters then that goes to show it's not 100% CS fault. Don't get me wrong there should have been more warnings and guidelines on how to use them but I think it's common sense adding a spacer should be followed by longer studs. Maybe if more people would have reported their failures maybe CS could have taken a look at the different variables and posted a bulletin or sent out emails that may have prevented what happened to gringo. Don't mean to shit on your shit storm but not everything you are trying to argue makes sense.

People have had them break on the oem setup. So racing with them on the oem setup is how they should be "proven worthy" or else they should just be pulled from the shelf and reengineered. Going out in a lighter car, with smaller wheels on longer studs, isn't the way to proves these work with the oem setup.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I get and agree 100% with that but spacers are not OEM. It would be interesting to see what everyone that had a problem, what their setup was. Also if they reported it and I don't mean making a thread about it on here. Not trying to argue or start anything, I'll bow out now and not clog this thread like the last one was.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I personally feel that you can't engineer a product around a lighter car with stronger studs but then turn around and say you CAN'T use them with OEM spacers and stock studs. I'm not bashing anyone or anything but what I AM saying is they are comparing apples to potatoes.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I'm waiting and hoping for Joel to engineer something miraculous that none one does better, anywhere else in the market. I really am. It would almost give him cause for the swollen head he's already got. I really want to like Corksport. I like their passion for Mazdas. But they just don't have it yet. Maybe this passenger mount I have sitting here is it, and I don't know it yet. Or maybe these brake pads I'm gonna beat the shit out of are. I'm seriously holding my breath. I want either or both of these to be amazing. But the lug nuts need to be taken off the website.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Did that guy they named car of the month get outfitted with all the CS parts, or just buy the entire CS catalog on his own? Serious question, I didn't pay attention to the contest or whatever it was. I didn't want to post it in that thread for fear of looking trollish. As you can see below, I run CS parts, at the moment.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I'll tell you why Teddy. Because the internal thread of the insert is too close in size to the external thread of the insert. A helicoiled thread does actually create a stronger thread, but, not what the insert spans across two pieces, and when it's the only think holding them together.

| Not Ranked : 0 score @CorkSport; How much lighter is your track prepped car compared to a factory frech MS3? How much less power does your 2 make compared to a factory ms3? Your comparison doesn't even equal the stress on a stock car. Many of us are modified for more power and/or better handling. Some of us track our cars on slicks. While your 2 may be a badass little race car its no comparison to the market that is having the issues. Want to really prove these lugs? Take a stock weight MS3 with all your power adding and suspension parts and bolt on a set of slicks using the stock studs and corksport lugs and then go run a full session on the track. Then pull them like most of us would to check brakes and so on and then bolt them back on and track it some more. Thats the test I see a lot of our locals run during their track days so its fairly realistic to your customer base. If you're not confident on these lugs to do that you shouldn't be selling them and IMO you should try and help some guys out for a poorly engineered part.

| Not Ranked : 0 score There's not a sponsored car by this company or any other company that makes the power that some of us make. What fast car uses their parts? Zero. That being said, let me get back to my original point. In the other thread, they clearly stated to the OP that the lugs are not designed to work with spacers, be torqued past 85 and then now 65. You can't use a impact gun. And it obviously won't work with any silver Pus either. So again I will ask. My spacers used independent studs, the rears had no spacers, there was no impact gun used. So how do 10 out of 20 lugs break coming off, after 9 runs, spread out in 2 weeks? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score 3 Things: 1. I thought this discussion was over... 2. Because of thinking #1 , when I saw the title, I laughed pretty hard. 3. My lugs were torque to the specified 65lbs (yes I know everyone's feelings on me using spacers) Thats all I wanted to say (seriously, I'm not going post in here again). Now I'm going to pound sand, because that's what CS told me to pretty much do. Well that or get a deal on a new set. Good luck to everyone else!

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've had these lugs in my hand. I've felt their obscene light weight for their purpose, and I've wobbled them halfway down the lug. I had serious reservations about putting them on a Nator members car, told him so, and he opted to run them. They weren't over torqued, they weren't impacted. I used a Craftsman torque wrench to put them at 65 ft-lbs precisely and winced as I said "Ok, that's to spec". It felt wrong, and I knew they had worked loose twice before. And then they sheared off in the same spot as the rest. This was on 5mm spacers - call it user error if you will, but this is a tuner market. A *lot* of people have aftermarket wheels and the very common RPF1's and lowered ride heights, and they also drive their car as enthusiasts would. These lugs in my completely non-metallurgical and highly unprofessional opinion... are crap. I didn't need to see multiple instances of other fails to tell me this. They felt wrong going on, and the proof was delivered in them coming off in pieces. Every company stamps their name on product and markets it to the masses for a profit - that is business. These *IMO* aren't a good product and don't deserve the Corksport name. I have good faith in their products AND their actions to support them, and I'm hoping these aluminum lugs are removed from their catalog, to protect both themselves and the consumer.

| Not Ranked : 0 score No bandwagon, more like witch hunt now. To give you a bit from my perspective and a little a bit about myself.... I started with Mercedes when I was 16. I left Merc 4 yrs later and went to work on Ferraris in So Cal. After that I joined a Subaru group and we went racing on dirt roads. Then I found myself out in the country and worked for a Porsche engine builder and Cart builder. I had almost 20 years of experience wrenching on things that went fast BEFORE I went to engineering school. During school I worked with BMW, VAG, and Merc again. Porsche put Alu lugnuts on cars as an option for a long time. They also put little "hold up tabs" on their valve stems on wheels because the centrifugal force of 150+mph would throw the valve stems out. High performance = high liability. Racing and going fast is an inherently dangerous proposition, and if your not prepared to accept the risk then you have left yourself open to liabilities that you are not prepared for. Personally, I have always tried to stick with the "7 turns" rule. It doesn't always happen that way, but when it doesn't I know and am aware of the possible failure. There is no way for me to measure every wheel available along with spacers from different manufactures to post a definitive chart of what works and what doesn't. In the end it is up to you to decide what is safe ultimately. |

How does any of this help/address the failures people have experienced while using the lugs as directed, no spacers, proper torque etc.? In other words your saying: Shit can be risky...Deal with it That's awesome. | |

The description of these lugs to the layman appeared to be focused on setting their mind at ease that these lugs were just as capable (or more so) as OEM lugs, and from what we've seen, they are not. This, from me at least, isn't a witch hunt at all. I think this is one dissatisfactory product in a great lineup.

| Not Ranked : 0 score For what it's worth, I put these lugs on my car and about 1 week later went and did a road course event at Talladega Grand Prix Raceway. Had no issues except that the lugs weren't tight after I drove ~90 miles to the event. At the time, no spacers on the car, but the lugs were just recently installed. Not calling out spacers as the issue though, since the lugs had just been installed and hadn't been taken off and put on a few times. FWIW, the spacers I have on now are to prevent the new wheels (PF01-SS in 17x9 +4x offset) from hitting the suspension in the front. I'm the NATOR member @JgamB; keeps mentioning. I'll be taking more pictures, and possibly measurements this weekend to send to CS. They've been very responsive to me about this issue.
