L0k1 CS turbo experience

I posted in the other thread saying I did not think that I have the experience for a review but some of you still asked for one plus some logs.

Well I think the install was pretty straight forward. It did take me 12 hours but I have never done anything like that before. Honestly, the worst part of it was getting some of the heat shields off the manifolds. I also did my downpipe at the time and its not as bad as I thought it would be. I did have a huge breaker bar and swivel sockets. We did not have to pull the exhaust manifold or anything off to get the turbo out we just moved some lines and pulled it out the intake side. Note to others that have never done turbo installs; coolant comes out fast ...very fast. My white shirt is now green.

I am being tuned from Ryan at purple drank. I have just my base map on now and its limited at 16 psi. My other mods are in my signature and I will keep up to date on this thread as my tune progresses.

Here are some logs from my K04 tune from Ryan(it was not fully finished when I decided to go CS) versus my base map for the CS. I just got revision 2 so I will post them up as I get them.

A few questions...

Were all the mods on your sig installed on the k04?
If that is a yes then I assume the maf cal didn't change at all?

10% wgdc looks great at just under 16psi with spark advance a little less than the k04 moving almost equivalent volume of air. Very nice

Also, I would list the mods in the posting because sigs change and people searching for questions in the future may like to have mods with the logs

The mods that are new with the install are the ur catted dp, the 3 port and the 3bar. Idk about the maf cal stuff.

What's your goal out of this turbo and your tune? The power level and anticipated boost since you picked up a 3bar? Plan to run E and/or meth for additional fueling?

I picked up the 3 bar at the suggestion of my tuner. I do plan to run an E85 mix. For power I want to see how far I can take it while still remaining safe for my engine internals because it is my daily. Now saying that I do have another car I can daily if it came to it but my wife probably be upset with me.

Here is the logs from the revision I got last night.

Today is the first day I commuted on the CS. It drove fine. I could hardly tell a difference. When it pulls it on this map it feels very similar to my k04 on 20 psi but I doubt butt dyno is accurate.

Also I have not got a revision yet but I may be meeting up with my tuner tomorrow and do some street tuning. I will post back the results.

I got a new map today from my tuner. Its raining for the next couple days so I probably will not get you guys any logs right away. I am suppose to be up to 20 psi now.

I found out the hard way when mine blew out recently. Everything looked good but I guess there was a side wall defect because all of the wiring just came out. Fucking weird. What ate you looking to get?

I am not on stock tires but not on good tires either. I am running 17x8 rims with 235/45ZR-17 Sumitomo HTR Z II.

Well ended up doing some logs today. Also a vdyno shot. Not sure if its fully set up correctly or not.

IDK, I bought them because they were only 78 bucks each and had a decent rating on tire rack. They only have around 1.5k miles on them.

I didn't realize you got the z11. The z111 is the one I was thinking to get. They like 100 bucks each on tire rack

Okay guys. I spent the day with Ryan working on my tune. I am on 4 gallons of e85. If someone could turn it into Vdyno please that be great. It was 75 out when I did the logs and I weigh a fat 200 lbs.

The car is pulling hard. When he first had me pull on the e85 tune I was taken by surpise in the torque steer. It feels great.

Looks funny to me though....is this a comparison of last map vs final map or did I fubar something? Both 4th gear, 1.01 smoothing 3 uncorrected as temp were close enough..

Did you set the throttle position column of the log to 100 for the entire log before you put it in vdyno?
