Default LED DRL kit

I see on the Corksport site a "LED DRL kit". It says that it is comperable to HID. I knew LED lighting is coming of age, but, I had no idea that there was any LED lighting comparable to HID. Really true?

I had seen kits for putting HIDs in the fogs, but, I thought the install was not that easy, and best done by removing the bumper. But Corksport says its an easy 30 minute install. Is it really this easy? I guess I should go take a look under the car myself, but, I just thought I'd ask.

At any rate, if it is that good and that easy, it sounds like a great product. I'll probably be buying, if it all checks out.

Color will be nice, but light output is not comparable.

Well, what Corksport's site says is:

"The light output of the DRL light upgrade matches that of most HID light kits in the 6000k color range."

When they say "light output" they just meant color but not lumins? As I read it, it certainly sounded like they were saying it had comparable lumins.

It is the color, not the light output which we are talking about in the product listing.

Thanks. I hope you will clarify this. It says "light output is comparable". If the lumins don't compare to HID, maybe you can compare the lumins to stock.

I have the kit it looks really nice if you are running an aftermarket HID kit of around 5-6k. It almost matches perfectly but that's what i bought them for...to match. I would not recommend these if you actually do want to light up the road with your fogs.

The install is really easy and does not require taking off the bumper. You can remove the 2 undertray sections of the car right below where the fog lights are. I believe it's only llike 3 screws on each side--took me around 15 minutes to do once the car is slightly jacked up (my car is lowered as well so I had to jack it up).

I don't think there is much different between the stock fogs and this led kit. So if you want looks, go for this.

That is really what they are for. If you take the metal shroud out of the housing you can get more light output. It just sucks to do the work.

Maybe I will do a how to on it.

Kit looks really good with a 6000K HID kit. I could not be more happy with the look. On a side note how long before the front mount kit for the 2010 MS3 comes out?

End of the month/beginning of next month.

The pipes are being bent and the installation instructions are being finished up.

Unless they are running an SST90 LED (read: huge heatsink) you are not even going to get close to the output of incan. Tint can be closely matched, though. That is what they are mentioning.

Took this after I installed these on my gen 1 running with stock xenons till I get my HID's........I also have the LED interior light/license plate light upgrade...absolutely love all my LED's LOL...........and no these will not light up the road (that you can see driving at least), though you will notice a blue tint to your lights on the road....Think it will look much better with the HID kit....

thanks for the pic. Yea it doesn't look like it lights up the road at all. Probably wont be getting HID's anytime soon so might have to pass up on this mod and put it at the end of my list.

here is what they look like next to the 8k HIDs I have. They light up about 5ft of road and thats it, but no worries as the HIDs flood the road so Im good. Nice LEDs and color is a good match.
