I just pitched a massive hood strut in my pants. Enough to lift any hood in the industry.

Yes mine did slightly as well, I also used some larger washers on the fenders to take out some of the flex I was seeing.

Pics?

How many washers used and where exactly were they placed to create a space?

Yes, please post pics of washers and placement for adjustment. Been thinking about those things but don't want my hood to rise up as a result.

Pics and measurement of how high up the raise was? Significant? Fixed with washers or other adjustment on brackets, or whatnot?

I will let you all know by sunday how mine looks. If the hood does not line up properly, they will be uninstalled. As I do not like things out of place. Lol.

Sorry guys, I haven't been checking in on a regular basis. I'll take some pictures at lunch and post them up. I'll also try to get some measurements for you.

Some more analysis:

The first two images are a re-claying of the bracket itself; playdoh was applied directly to the bracket rather than to the plastic for a better gauging of clearances (as seen in the second image). In the third image, playdoh was applied directly to the ball socket part of the bracket, sans struts; they may play a part in clearance issues but I doubt it. If someone wants to disconnect the struts from the bottom bracket and check to see if the hood is still raised significantly, that would be swell.

Here's the comparison of driver's side with and without brackets installed (installed on left):

And the same comparison for passenger side (again no struts, brackets installed on left image only):

And here's how my old ones were set up:

I really like them as they were NEVER in the way (and the existing bracketry for your current GenWon kit could potentially leave the strut in the way during wrench sessions), but they weren't strong enough to support the hood reliably; they are more meant for regular 3s and/or carbon fiber hoods and/or no cowling (FMIC). In windy/cold weather, I've been brained multiple times (even when they were brand new). If you can find a beefier shock roughly the same length, a similar mounting location will result in near perfect geometry/force. If you have to have massive force struts for this application, I recommend moving it closer to the pivot point to reduce the trebuchet-like forces placed on the hood during opening/closing.

If you guys want, I can send the old ones to you for "research."

Also, Kim, I want my damn picture.

The gap or raised part at the rear of my hood looks about the same as what everyone else is posting. I also included a shot of the washer I used. Its about 1" diameter.

Interesting that they located the top bracket and strut attachment point to the outside of the hood edges. Potentially a revision to rotate our bracket that direction will be all that is necessary.

Are you still going to send all of us return information to send these back to you? I would assume you'll be sending pre-paid labels correct?

Mine are off the car and ready to go back and I look forward to the revision to be sent out AND longer struts so the hood opens farther.

I might have figured out the problem. It might not be the hood or the bracket, but rather the fender that's bent.

EDIT: Shit for a video I know, but that's the best I got and my phone won't focus.

But anyways, if you look closely(I know its blurry) when I push the hood up to maximum, the fender bends in. I theorizing that maybe the hood struts, with all the force to keep the hood up might have bent the fender inwards permanently. Makes sense considering after all the test with and without the gas struts, there is no contact between the hood and car. The hood is probably where its supposed to be, but the fenders aren't, resulting in that gap.

@Enki; @Matrix311; Tell me if I am close, and if I get a candy? I don't have the strut kit so nothing on my car is bent right now.
