Product idea for ms6

I was wondering if it would be practical to develop a steel box that bolts behind the back seats, so that way you can sort of regain you ability to use your car for cargo?

Right now it looks like this


what I suggest is something like the red lines below to replace that bracing and allow for good access room, not to mention the bracing could eliminate the need for the rear interior brace everyone is currently adding? Just spitballing

I don't think we would ever design a part that requires you to cut through a pretty main part of your car. Which is the only way you could access the trunk.

EDIT: I might be wrong.... am I wrong? I've only seen the seats out of an MS6 once forever ago.

EDIT: EDIT: Yep... I'm wrong, no cutting required, you could just unbolt the factory bracing it appears and then bolt in a new bracing that was just around the edge. The mechanism for folding the seats from the front would be more difficult though.

On a side note, look for the fold down write up someone did years back. I think they installed a brace on the bottom when they removed the brackets. It's been done I think.

Sorry for my redundancy, but it would be nice if there was a set of these for sale somewhere, since I can obvy just remove the rear bracing but I feel like you could replace it with something like the pic and the thread it came from above, but in skimming it, it seems it didn't come to fruition for the market due to lack of access to fabrication equipment.

The problem with the box-section brace design is that it doesn't do much at all to improve torsional rigidity, and THAT is the only reason for the OE trunk braces. A square can become a parallelogram, but a trapezoid/triangle/X will resist torsional deformation far, FAR better. It's all about the X's, man. If you can figure out a properly-engineered solution that increases or maintains torsional rigidity AND improves the functionality of the car, then go for it.

I see what you are saying Vansquish, well if nothing can be done about getting them out of the way, and we need Xs as you say. How about letting us double down on not having rear seats and going for rigidity instead when replacing the black trunk braces. It would be even simpler to manufacture a real X brace than what I was suggesting before since it would be even more rigid than 2 separate pieces could ever be I would think, something along these lines(sry for my shit artwork) if I am wrong I look forward to hearing about it:

Funny thing is that, Cullen came up with an idea similar to what you are saying. But he doesnt know hiw to engineer shit. Don't expect many MS6 specific items, you may be better getting a one off. Here is Cullens brace for you guys to discuss. It probably will fail though sonbe fore warned.
