I know this is a late response to a product release, but I was looking at the website and I was wondering you can post a few more pictures of the radiator shroud. Specifically from the sides of the shroud and lower/front part of the grill. I am just trying to see how directed they are. It is not clear from the pictures on your website.

Thanks!

Still interested in seeing these better or if anyone has installed a pair of these I would be interested in any feedback you have about them.

Whats the diffference between these and just leaving the stock ducting in?

Any chance we can get a bolt on top and side air guide right into the intercooler core

I have the CS shrouds installed.

Initially, I purchased this radiator plate "Z3 Coolant Plate" mazdaspeed 07 09 Mazda Speed Hatchback Eyelids MS3 Bodykit | eBay but I got it with the cutouts for the stock ducting - mistake, I should have got the version without cutouts.

So a few weeks ago, I received my CS shrouds and removed the above plate. I replaced the stock ducting with the CS Shrouds and then replaced the plate. The plate still leaves about a 1" gap on the side of each cutout.

I can honestly say that I see a definite improvement in cooling. Now I'm not a CS nutswinger, in fact I was one of the first to review their Cobb intake air box and said I saw almost no difference in IATs, however these shrouds are the truth.

My normal cruising ECT is 187 degrees (before shrouds, with plate installed). This is on the freeway, cruising on level ground. As I mentioned in another thread, I now see a cruising temp of 183 degrees more often than I see the 187 temp. Additionally, after a WOT run, or higher load driving such as going uphill, my temps will drop from 215+ back into the 183-187 range MUCH faster than they did prior to the CS shrouds.

It's hard to say that everyone will get the same improvement that I had, unless you also have the rad blockoff plate, however I would hazard to say that you WILL have an improvement considering the additional airflow being redirected into the lower grill no longer being bypassed above the radiator.

Intercooler core ducting has been around forever...... I was just curious if we can get some made by corksport for our common intercooler core sizes. See picture.

Any more WTFs?

Ok, well firstly, the stock ducting pieces, which the CS shrouds replace, do NOT divert air to the radiator - they divert air into the TMIC assembly attached to the bottom of the hood. This allows air to be pushed through the TMIC core. So it's not the same design at all. Stock diverts air directly into the engine bay bypassing the rad and the CS shrouds direct air away from engine bay, into rad space.

So the WTF was directed at your first question, below, which makes no sense had you read and comprehended what the CS shrouds do.

For your second question, submit your idea via CS's idea submission site and/or in the CS new idea thread.

Edit: Also, this thread is more about improving airflow through the radiator - improving ECTs, rather than improving airflow through the FMIC. The FMIC blocks half of the radiator so there is more need for making up for reduced airflow and reduced cooling efficiency than directing more air into the FMIC.

See, thats why i asked. You answered my first question. The only experience i have had with radiator air guides is to guide air through the front bumper and prevent it from going up into the engine instead of through the radiator. This design is to take air from the upper grille.

Can you take a few more photos of the shrouds specifically from the direct front of the car?

Can you post some pictures of what the bottom of them look like before you install them in the car. I'm curious as to what they look like and also curious to see before/after numbers.

Thanks

Attached are the pics and logs. The underside of the pieces are just fiberglass looking.

I did the logs on the same exact stretch of road but unfortunately even the five minutes it took me to swap these parts the ambient according to the dash readings increased from 84-89 on the second run. I will try it again when the amb is 83 and post up a more direct comparison.

Sorry i dont know how to make a graph of these, maybe someone else can.
