@CorkSport;

Any updates since your blog last month?

The current "name brand" manifolds are rediculously expensive and the rediculously cheap eBay manifolds break. So it's either up to YOU to bring balance or I'll have a buddy weld up something in his shop for a reasonable price that'll survive a nuke blast.

Still working on it man. We want it to be awesome! These types of things takes time.

I vote do a cast.... for short tight runs I think tubular is overrated for the amount of compromise and manpower required.

Fstrnyou 06-20-2018 06:14 AM

Cast vs Tube decision has already been made.

It sounds to me like they are merely fine tuning the design at this point.

I told Luke if they release a PTE vband version I'm down.

Been there / done that. Albeit on my parent's dime when I was much younger.

Go-Karts (road course and dirt circle track), Legends Cars (road course and circle track), SCCA IT7/ITA, NASA Factory 5 Challenge, and of course the regular AutoX in my street car.

Loophole35 10-03-2018 05:49 AM

Any update on this? I personally can't stand the unbalanced sound of the stock manifold and want something true equal length. The two other big names are too expensive and one of them can barely tighten the bolts for the collector on the stock turbo flange.

The CS design looks to be great so looking forward to pairing it with a BNR s3/s4.

PD Tuning posted up a pic on Facebook last week. They've been testing their new manifold but haven't released prices or sell date.

damn, you have seriously offended me.

you know the evo is a better platform, right?

I'm sure you'll push past it.

And I'd rather not deal with the tons of issues the 4G63 platform has. Plus it sounds like a generic 2.0L turbo. The displacement advantage our motor has will still have a distinct note over the 4G63 just sound more balanced.

New blog post on the manifold posted at CorkSport.

Looking more production ready.

Exhaust scavenging on CS mani

APEXistud 11-13-2018 07:03 PM

I just saw the video and it looks promising. I just hope I have the funds when the time comes. Also that my motor hasn't shit out.

Fstrnyou 11-13-2018 07:05 PM

That demonstration is garbage...but I'm still going to buy it.

The demonstration does nothing more than prove the stock manifold is horribly designed. Scavenging is much more important on NA, however the equal length primaries do improve the pulse balance (I don’t know if that the right phrase but I’m sure you get the idea).

The CP-E or Full-Race or any other tubular mani will effectively work the same way.

Main thing will be the price. Plus they will be offering it in three flanges: stock, T3 (un-divided) and PTE v-band. All will have a 44mm exWG flange.

It having a T3 flange is interesting plus the fact the mani is modular so you could buy it now for a stock frame turbo and upgrade later to a T3 or PTE v-band turbo and only have to buy an elbow for the minfold.

9180 EFR sounds nice (now to start sourcing a spare long block).

Fstrnyou 11-13-2018 11:14 PM

They should mount up a turbo and do that demonstration again. For shits and giggles even though it won't necessarily prove anything.
For a given pressure ratio on the compressor side there is a similar pressure ratio on the exhaust side. Meaning there must be pressure in the manifold to drive the turbine wheel. If there is pressure throughout the manifold, there is no scavenging going on.

Scavenging relies on positive and negative pressure waves traveling down and up the primary tubes of a header and there's quite a bit of tuning of the primary tubes and collector to get it right. And even then, it's tuned for a particular RPM range.

Equal length is the norm to achieve, as you say, pulse balance. Considering the extreme opposite would be all of the exhaust pulses hitting the collector at the same time, which would be a huge bottle neck and then there would be no flow until the next cycle and bottle neck again. When the pulses are evenly spaced, the assembly should flow more with the same size pipes as an unequal length manifold. Or you could make the primaries smaller to flow the same but with higher velocity.

The interchangeable turbo flange section is quite interesting.

Loophole35 11-14-2018 11:54 AM

Numbers up on PD tuning's FB page.

Looks like the same numbers you would expect from other tubular manifolds.

Again waiting to see price.

armyman 11-15-2018 02:07 PM

will it work with tmic??

Fstrnyou 01-15-2019 06:00 PM

Update in 2 weeks?

Fstrnyou 02-20-2019 10:00 PM

Hmm. Missed that last deadline. Another 2 weeks out?

mr_mazda329 04-01-2019 02:41 AM

Mentions of the mani and CST6 making power. No updates from the looks.

Revving to 7,800 or so, nice! Hopefully CorkSport will also design a big ass oil cooler.

Desmont 05-13-2019 09:26 AM

How are things going with the exhaust manifold?

Speedie6 10-07-2019 07:27 PM

Corksport's page on it:

https://corksport.com/mazdaspeed-exhaust-manifold.html

As of this writing says it will be available 01/02/2020. Price is listed at $799.

Fstrnyou 10-07-2019 10:16 PM

Yep. I added it to my shopping cart a few days ago.

Speedie6 10-09-2019 06:31 AM

When I looked at the page it said not available to add to cart until 1/2/20

Loophole35 10-14-2019 07:47 AM

I'm wondering if it will clear their TMI with an External wastegate?

Speedie6 10-15-2019 07:41 PM

I had a short email exchange with Derrick. I asked him how theirs might compare to the obvious competition. That CorkSport's will support T-3 is the most obvious difference. But he claimed the second advantage is fitment. He said that the competition has been known to not fit with some other products. I can't specifically answer your question, but, you can ask Derrick and hopefully the answer is yes.

I have a T-3 ceramic coated. I could, of course, get a new housing if I were to get the competition. But, given that I won't have to with CorkSport, I plan to get theirs.

Fstrnyou 10-15-2019 10:54 PM

I will be getting the K04 flange for the CST4 plus I'm assuming they will offer an EWG block off plate. I'd like to order with it an extra adapter for PTE vband for when I switch to a 5862.

Speedie6 12-27-2019 08:15 PM

The page I linked to a couple of posts ago is gone. So, I take it that means it is not coming out 1/2/2020.

Federighi 01-02-2020 04:22 PM

Hopefully sooner than later. I wrote them an email about pre-ordering a few weeks ago. I was under the impression everything was on schedule. Guess not... ?

Speedie6 01-03-2020 10:47 AM

I am working on my rebuild and I have a fair amount of CorkSport products. I got their throttle body, skid plate, high-pressure fuel line, skid plate, EGR delete. front license plate relocate, big brake kit stage 2. Even the stuby antenna. But, I'm giving up on the exhaust manifold and am going to get "the other guy's".

It's got two weeks as part of the other fifty.
