Wasn't extra money, why would someone pay extra for the word Axela on it? It's not like it's a upgrade, it's just what they call the mazda 3 in japan?

It was different in japan, I think it was a non turbo AWD, but I've never cared enough to research more on it. Take some pics of the engine bay, Vin #, etc and I'm sure more people will chime in.

Alright that's all I wanted to know. Since there are no axela models in the united states according to you guys I think it's most likely the whole rear hatch was replaced.

There's no stickers underneath on the inside (I'd expect their to be but not sure on these cars) and there is slight over spray under the wing on the top of the car so either the rear was repainted or it was replaced completely.

I can assure you that even if your hatch was replaced entirely, the likelihood of someone importing a hatch from Japan to do so is rather slim.

Not saying that, but obviously they either couldn't find a mazda3 emblem or they put Axela on it for some unknown reason. I bought it from a dealer, it has had previous owners, it wasn't marketed to me as a "Axela" but it does seem the rear hatch was either replaced or had work done to it.

Dude... it's not hard to understand. The previous owner bought the Axela badge because he wanted to be unique or trendy. This is WHY people modify cars in the first place.

So you're telling me the factory shipped the car with slight over spray under the wing on the black part of the rear wind shield? I'm just using common sense but I'd assume that means they either repainted the hatch for some reason or it was replaced and resprayed to the correct color..

I bet if you called a mazda dealer and asked them to look up the VIN they could probably tell you the exact model of your car. Unless you're sitting on the right side of the car, it's a US car. This guy before you most likely fucked up the hatch and had some no named bullshit place re paint it for him. He then went on ebay or any number of sites and ordered a badge. You came along and bought a car without knowing what you were looking at. Now you're here wondering why people are calling you a fucking idiot.
