so, while running errands, I see a sunshield laying on the ground at ABC, I grab it and stop by autozone for some tape, and head home and park in the shade.

after I get some coolant repalced, in me, I get busy with scisors and tape and whatnot

i ... i just... hmmmmm. wrapping the hot pipe to the intercooler is probably not the best idea either, id imagine thats hotter than the surrounding engine bay air, so you would want that to be able to bleed heat out. Also, you're going to shoot yourself when that duct tape gets hot and the adhesive starts giving out and your engine bay is just one big goopy mess, at the very least use aluminum tape because it has reflective properties, ive successfully used that in engine bays before.

the LAIC has been there for 2 years

the wrap job is an experiment, if it works,..... I am in a bind cuz that engine bay looks like redneck NASA, and I don't see an effective way to wrap the boost tubes neatly, the water pipes I can use the AC pipe foam on, that will be fine, but keeping the radiator airflow off the cold pipe........

Unwrap hot pipe to let heat out = less work for intercooler. I personally wouldnt wrap the intercooler either because yes it sits on top of the engine, but it also sits in direct line of where your scoop channels air so i imagine it will be fine. I also would not wrap the hot (hose?) for the water for the same principle, the more heat they can bleed off on their own the less your heat exchanger has to do. Lastly, i have my cold pipes / intake wrapped with things like this to keep them cool and it seems to work quite well. Heat Shield Tape | Heatshield Products it also looks a tad nicer i think.

question is, is the air temp in that area sufficiently less than the tube temp (warmed by conduction to the turbo outlet, and to a lesser extent convection from intake air.

mebbe its time to get the oven thermometer with remote probe out and see what the air temps are really doing under there

hotside water ir for sure lower than underhood temp

want to do a quick test, go drive the car around for a few minutes, get it hot you know then come back and park. Place your hand in the area next to the hot pipe, now place your hand ON the hot pipe and tell me which is hotter, and where you think the heat will convect to lol.

I run an insulation experiment, I know it looks rediculous, looks don't matter, its an experiment under the hood and I want to keep the ecu from pulling timing, .

not that I've found the major ingress of heat to the system, because I MEASURED it

I can take permanent steps to mitigate it

well, meth is proven, but has drawbacks in its complexity for one. and the laic is complex enough. these extra pumps have a way of failing

not being a Dick but how does e85 reduce bats unless 5th port? I know e85 raises effective octane making high bats less of an issue, but I don't recall anything mentioning it lowering bats.
