Default Blown engine

Great had the car for a month and a half now and I'm waiting on tow truck now because something blew up in the motor and oil is everywhere!!! The car came with a hks bov so could the dealer give me trouble even though I was told it was 100 percent under warranty about a month ago.

If it contributed to the failure, yes they can say the warranty doesn't apply...

Remove everything BEFORE going to the dealer or it will be a tough sell for the warranty. Some dealers give a hard time because of the BPV/BOV. Tow it to your house or something.

Be more specific what tuning device?
Miles on car?

I hope you were monitoring boost/fp/knock at the very least. If so any logs before the blow?

Chances are you threw a rod.

Stock it out take to dealer.

Ive only had car a month and don't have gauges or anything to moniter that stuff. Car is at the dealer now. My buddy gave me his Cobb ap because be totaled his ms3 and when I try to hook it up it's says that there's already a devise locked to the car. I have 40,100 miles on car.

There's also a metal ring Layin on the plastic cover that sits under engine so that's my guess what broke.

If you still have the parts on the car and the tune is on the ECU you are likely fucked and will be denied warranty on a new motor. The tune on your car or already weakened rod(s) from the previous owner did the motor in.

The second you found out it had an unknown flash u should have talked to the seller and figured out what was up. The second thing you should have done was got a monitoring device. Pushing a car hard with an unknown and unmonitored tune is asking to blow.

Could you be any less specific please? Regardless, the damage is done. Stock out, take it in, and hope for the best. Sounds like some kind of flash tune, since whoever had the car before you would've had to remove the tune in order to sell the tuning device.
I would call a piasani dealer and see if they can check it out/remove the tune before you take it in.

It's a long shot, but it may be worth your while.

Car is already at the dealer he is fucked. I bet the techs are calling Mazda USA and telling them not to send someone to inspect the engine because its gonna be easy to decline the warranty work on it.

Makes me glad I owned my car since 10 miles. I know the person who beats the shit out of it and know where the blame goes if something breaks.

I was Told the car was inspected and 100 percent under warranty so me and the dealer will have a huge problem if they don't fix it. I owned my mustang for 2 years and ran numerous bottles through it with almost 100,000 miles and it never broke down 1 time. I'm starten to rethink the ms3 it's been in the shop longer than I've had the car now. First a hydraulic line for clutch blew out, then throw out bearing and now a blown motor even though this is all happening because the previous owner apparently ran the balls outta this car.

Never go WOT below 3k and spray Meth up top.

Yea I will never make a ton of horsepower with it but I just got a new k04 under warranty and can't see myself being able to afford a proper BT build for sometime.

your going to have to battle on this one, tell them that you have done nothing to the car, that you bought it this way
and bought it with the warrantee sill in tact, or you wouldn't of purchased the car

Wait did you buy the car from the DEALER?

If so did it have all of the mods on it already? If so you might have a case.

Too bad you had it towed to the dealer. Hopefully someone else reading this will learn from this situation: ALWAYS HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME TO STOCK IT OUT!

Paying $100 for the car to be towed to your house and then to the dealer is a hell of a lot cheaper than paying $2500 for a blown motor out-of-pocket.

Well not much else I can do unless I come across a couple grand laying in the road. Car is still quick enough to beat most of the V8 barges we got at this altitude.

And yes I have BT envy.

So you're saying whoever you bought this car from didn't uninstall their AP from the car?

He probably knew what was about to happen (bad motor), traded it in, and it's now on your hands.

I would take the advice of fighting with the dealer you bought the car from since it came that way. Next advice would be never to buy a car modded like that...

You guys all said I was going to be fucked going to the dealer, and everything was covered.

You'll get it covered if you play your cards right.

How long have you owned the car, and how many miles have you put on it since?

Well goodluck with whatever happens. So oil was everywhere you say, so hole in the block?

Also stock turbo is fine for the most part. Just depends on few factors. the 07-08 ms3's seem to have more issues with smokey turbos bad seals, pvc. I have a 09, and have 0 issues, I also have only heard of 1 issue with 2010+ regarding stock turbo.

What I will say though is our stock turbo is not a very awesome performer when pushed.
Stock tune for the ms3 sucks, the k04 makes around 14-15 psi till 5k and then falls hard. A good tune would be 18 psi till 5700, then have it taper slightly to 15 psi @redline. With proper tune, youll be able to squeeze out 99.9% of the hp potential of this k04 while preserving turbo life.

Aslo it has not been proven at all about wot below 3k blows motors..just hearsay.

But Rigor is correct, even when pushing the turbo above the norm, its hot air. A nice TMIC or FMIC can help this alot, meth is awesome....but if your staying 18 psi and below, it is not needed.

WE have no clue what kind of tune is on your car, that leaves alot of questions in the air...how were your afr's..did you have knock...what was your fuel psi..ect ect...bla bla fuckin bla.

You have a used ms3 with couple bolt ons and unknown tune and then boom, so who fuckin knows what happened. Did the previous owner do reg. oil changes..or was he a fuckin retard who treated his car like shit....once again..alot of what ifs

I do know that a properly tuned ms3 with proper mods, yes stock turbo can run just fine.

I have owned the car for a month and a half to two months and put about 4,000 miles on it because I took a trip to the Florida keys the week after i got it. About 1,600 miles there and then the 1,600 for the trip back.

I know the whole WOT below 3k rpms is not a proven fact but a very long distance road trip on the highway and what sounds like a bent rod after does seem to beg the question about how the car was driven during that time. Not that i am blaming you OP. Its just the majority of thrown rods happen after long highway runs and can possibly point to loading the engine way too low in the rpm band and bending a rod.

On a long road trip like that with a new owner on a who knows how beat car I could see it happening.

These cars should come with a ignition lockout that will not deactivate until you research these forums for at least a few weeks. This forum has saved many noobs (myself included) from the headaches.

Op if they replace your engine don't give up on the car just keep it stock until you learn the ins, outs, and quirks of the platform..

But but but but.... they said it was covered 100%!!!!!

All you're doing now is paying a price for being so gullible. Get that kind of stuff in writing next time.

Sorry for your loss and happy rebuild time....or whatever you decide to do.

It's was in writing it had a sticker on the car that said 100 percent factory warranty on The passenger window thats one main reason I bought it. I found out after I bought it that a bov could void the warranty that's kinda why I'm freaking but it was all on there when I got it. The car would back fire bad sometimes also if that has anything to do with it. Ill keep you guys updated as to what really went wrong when I find out.

All of the decisions on what will or will not be covered under warranty will left to Mazda people. All the dealer does is communicate with them. If the dealer submits a request, a person from Mazda will visit and make a decision on if parts will be covered or not and labor will almost always be covered by the dealer. I take it it's a small dealer that sells just about anything? I'm assuming because any normal Mazda dealer would not have sold the car with aftermarket parts all over it. So in the end the decision will come down to what Mazda says.

What you have said so far isn't looking very good. You said something about you trying to pair a Cobb Ap with the car? Not to mention your sig says "tune". If there is any sort of flash on the ecu, any dealer with a Mazda diagnostics computer will hook it up to the obd2 port and know immediately that the ecu has been flashed. Mazda will not honor warranty on car that's got a flashed ecu unless someone really lies to them at the dealer...
At this point you will be left with the dealer to cover the whole thing and if they are small....... well good luck with that.
My advice is that if you didn't mod the car to the way it is now, and the dealer sold it to you that way, fight them (get a lawyer).
Keep in mind a new mzr motor installed at a variety of shops is going to cost your upwards of $7000.00
Of course there's cheaper options then new...
