Blown motor?

So today my boost gauge peaked it's max.. So I was babying it after I seen that. So, coming up hill I got to 15psi and clutch went out car started ticking got no power so I threw it in netrual asap.

Good thing is no rods went threw the block no oil no nothing. Sounds like it's a bent rod. =( stupid me. Stupid me.

I was set at 18psi last night but with this mbc the it differs on the temp outside. And I forgot about that =(

So yeah I'm out a car and thing sucks it was my DD.

how did your boost gauge hit its max but you didn't get over 15psi? Should i just assume you were going up a hill in the wrong gear and over boosted the car? If so you earned that blown motor.

I fixed the boost last night.

Gear was 2nd not even flooring it man. Barley on the throttle. Sucks balls man

My gauge is 20psi auto meter and it hit the vac side. =/

No oil leaked. We are hoping it's just a rod. I hope so lol and I wasn't even racing today. I was just cruising!! Sucks so bad lol

I think he ment it went over 20psi all the way around to touch the vac scale...Thats my interpertation of off the scale.

I think what he means is the boost needle went all the way around to vac side,meaning he hit like 25-30 psi.

Be lucky the rod didn't shoot out the block. If it just bent grab the cp rod/piston combo from streetunit and you'll be set for that 30 psi lol.

This is one of the reasons why I went with an EBC over a MBC. If i over boost by .5 psi an alarm goes off and it compensates... 1 psi and it fully opens the WG.

damn that sucks big balls...I think you're the only one so far who run meth and got their engine blown...and i was thinking of getting a mbc...would it be safe if i just run mbc without any bcd or map clamp so i know where my limit is at? maybe just set it to 16-17psi?...shit guess no one is cured cuz even stockers getting their shit blown up...maybe i'll just stick with what i got and just put more stickers...lol.

He does not count for running meth and blowing up. He just hooked it up and was on a crash course for awhile. Don't mix him in with us others. Any way a D03 nozzle aint gonna stop 30 psi+ from destroying your motor.

guess no one is safe..what year and how many miles?..i tried comparing all of the listed ms3s with blown engines even from other forums and i can't seem to find any trend as far as aftermarket set up goes. If you just installed meth and doesn't count, then no car that run meth has blown yet nor with EBCs...but even stocks have blown...could just be certain cars just like with the engine mount issues and the fuel pump issues...or could just be driving methods who the hell knows...i guess the best and first thing to buy when modding a stock ms3 is rods and pistons...lol.

D03 is good for 20 psi and thats it. Theres more to it then just meth, colder plugs while being changed FREQUENTLY and smart driving. When you start modding these cars, you just cant beat on them and neglect them.

There have been reports of cars with upgraded fuel pumps, and tune (ap or sb) with their engine blown...i would have to agree with Haltech on this...

it felt funny on my clutch it started like vibrating.. and u can hear something in the engine clunking hardcore.

and i was going up hill part throttle and hit 15psi and it went down hill from there. =(

Actually he does have the upgraded fuel pump internals and the D05 nozle.

Sounds like he had a super lean spot at part throttle under extra load(going up hill) and no way to know it or tune it out like he could have with the dashawk and standback. But if he over boosted to 30+psi rite aronnd that time.. ?? could have been that. who knows...

hence why when going up a hill its good to stay out of boost. your engine probably started vibrating from all the load you were putting on it with boost and going up hill, and then to not have a upgraded cdfp....sorry but you were asking for this if something bad did happen.

after getting the cdfp upgrade...its something i wished i had done long before. theres even guys with just intake/AP getting fuel pressure dropping in these colder temps
