(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score They are..... more than ever. Heres what we have going on so far..... Custom internal designs have been selected for the motor, and are in the process of being ordered and/or produced. Numerous internal working parts are in the process of being fabricated, coated, and altered. This includes rods and pistons that will go in the first motor. They will be DCR "customized". They are rated to 1200whp. No i wont talk about what they are specifically. Darrells applications get ripped off everywhere, they wont here.... at least in the immediate future...lol Darrell timed a motor visually, 30 minutes after he first saw one out of a car..... all on sight, without the manual. After doing that, and having concerns with how the motor is timed....We are going to alter how that works as well. We will abandon the hydraulic tensioner and go manual. We are going to key the crank and the gears. We will also be offering an adjustable dcr cam gears as well. Darrell thinks the motor is beefy, likes the crank, most of the design.... and is confident the motor is capable of 1000hp with testing. We anticipate having the car built again and on the dyno by the end of May for preliminary results. We'll dyno it, track it, and then tear it down before we offer the parts on a large scale. We have been interviewing other sponsor cars to do a DI low number build on(400-500whp). Please dont inquire... I will contact you. Plans are underway to acquire a shopcar that could be stripped out and turned into the DCR hotrod. 7's are the goal. He isnt ready to gut my car yet..lol but wants to do a 2.5-2.6l stroker with secondary port injection on the stock intake on mine(goal being 500whp+) He wants it repeatable..... on our longblock and our intake. It will be available as a kit. 9's are the goal eventually on my "street" version. Much like the red sled is for their dodge application. Eventually we will have an a dcr pro intake for this application but not immediately. He wants to not swap heads on any application we are considering, but instead accomplish this all off the stock longblock... Several disi heads have been examined extensively and been cut up for inspection. We stockpiled 4 full longblocks for motor builds and testing. A LARGE aftermarket ems manufacturer has committed to starting new development on the car, after seeing DCRs commitment to us. Hes seen the exhaust manifold on my car and wants to do something different for it. We will correct some things and make 2 versions depending on your goals... although having been discussed heavily, they have not been produced. We will have stock, t-3, t-4 flanges all available. He wont use the atp gt35r thats on the car, and will probably use a BW362 like the 560whp caliber has used successfully. We'll be making dcr cams.... experimenting in the near future. We will have DCR springs and retainers. DCR upgraded intake and exhaust valves will be used. Probably 3 different versions of port and polished heads will be available for engine builds as well. Again... the first versions of this will be on my car for testing by the end of may.. thats the goal. Darrell is confident in me announcing that timetable at this point. Also.... we are hoping to have tmics, fmics, exhausts, individually flowtested cdfps, and other things along the line to help fill some of the requests of the market whether it makes it on the sponsor cars or not. Some of this stuff is more imminent than others. Well... fire away if you have other questions. Last edited by phailerider; 05-06-2009 at 11:43 PM. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Btw....Please make all requests regarding DCR directed to me. I will personally be the liason between DCR and the mazda market..... eventually spending most of my days working right out of their office. They are busy as hell as is.... and they dont want 100 calls a day like i get asking what darrells opinion to why our motor pops is. Hopefully that works for everybody I know im stoked! | Not Ranked : 0 score Randy...that's awesome! 2.6l 500+HP Speeds roaming the streets sounds like an excellent idea. Where do I sign up? This news adds a new level of confidence as far as dumping money into this car goes.

| Not Ranked : 0 score End of May, this year? That will be incredible just from a design and test standpoint. Looks like I'll need to set aside another pile of $ for more parts soon. I'm very interested if anything will be done to the short block, crank girdle? |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score sorry your gonna be stuck working with me philly you can have more if youd like. 500whp is not stoopid fast. Darrell isnt going to declare success until a ms is in the 9's. Thats DCR stoopid fast. yes... lots of theories. But he isnt going to post speculation until he has some real evidence. I will say his biggest immediate thought is about trying to make lots of power on a direct injected car, with lots of stock timing, high compression, but all designed with every possible goal in mind to improve fuel economy. safety is comes from cool, and fuel. think about that a little. im not going to say anymore. its not a stated goal at this time to find out tho. i think we already have enough guys experiment with that. the car is expensive to mod, and blocks arent cheap. the goal here isnt to find guys away to make 400whp on the stock bottom end for 50k miles. it aint gonna happen without heavy modification, perhaps to the design of the longblock anyway. to not build it would continue to be a deathwish imo.

but i think their recommendation would be simple. It would agree with much of what weve already come to accept here. 330ish on up should be built motor time. darrell has made a load of small comments on initial impressions regarding design.... but im not gonna pass them all along at this point. i just think its premature Last edited by phailerider; 05-06-2009 at 09:17 PM.

I'm guessing it'll be a "shifted" auto of some kind so you might still be able to row the gears. besides, you won't need an auto until you get "stoopid" fast. 11's are "sedate" enough for a manual lol.

in fact... it might be more fun... because when you floor it, you might actually go somewhere eventually.

| Not Ranked : 0 score you may forget that there hasnt been an ms3/6 in the low 12's yet. let alone 11's or 10's. Id love to see a 5spd tranny geared to finish the 1/4 in 4th gear. Id love to see serious traction bars (although i am trying to work my way around those also), not the single sheer street options available currently... Id like to see some rear springs that will hold the rear end from squatting. Im going to try spring boosters, but im not sure how effective that will be till i try it. Id like to see some sort of way to make the shifter cables more solid, but im not sure how much a cable linkage can be upgraded.. This car is known for its serious shifting issues, having a transversly mounted engine. Im sure DCR will have some insight, as thats the same configuration the srt4 uses. In the meantime, some things i have ordered to try are a shifter, solid shifter base bushings, and stiffer lower control arm bushings. Id like some tolerable, yet stronger engine mounts as well. I think CPE might have that covered though, when they are released.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'd like to see some quality springs and shocks for the MS6 that can be used for daily driving and for lapping days on a road course. I don't believe we have a single stand alone shock that is built specifically for the MS6.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well when your looking at shocks, one thing you have to realize, is that with the weight of the speed6 and the mazda6 being similar, companies like Koni and Bilstein arent going to make different shocks for the two cars. the shocks they make for the mazda6 are to their specifics of "optimal" for that wheelbase, suspension geometry, and vehicle weight. thus a speed6 specific shock shouldnt be any more/less aggressive just because the car is a more sporty/aggressive car. If your looking to road course, and be comfortable on the street, you really should look into an adjustable coilover. there have been some KILLER deals on BC coilovers lately.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hey, I didn't get my call! j/k, lol Speaking of transmissions, give me some straight cut gears in a dog box and I'll be happy. You still shift, but don't need the clutch |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I think he answered this and the "jist" of it was that they're leaving it at the 330whp mark. If you go above that on the sock internals, you're asking for trouble. Obviously you can meth it up to make things safer but still.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I think AutoEXE has a suspension kit specifically for the MS6, but it's something like $2500. I've heard nothing but good things about the BC's. As far a transmission, I would like to still have a 6 speed manual, just geared to top out at about 205ish at redline in sixth.
