(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score It might be easier to remove the stock downpipe and turbo as one unit and install the replacements the same way.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not sure if that is possible... definitely easier to remove and install separately.

Just wondering if it's possible to drop it from the turbo down. Might not fit on the way out down below being one piece. Could also be that I might get the turbo hung up them being duck together like that. I don't know.... just throwing it out there and hoping that maybe it worked for someone before.

| Not Ranked : 0 score It won't come out that way unless you hang the motor with a engine cradle and drop the sub-frame (not worth it). The DP fasteners are not that difficult as long as you have the right tools. It took me literally an hour and a half to do my CPE back in December (though I have access to a lift would have taken maybe 30 more minuets on jack stands). The stock turbo can come out the driver side of the engine bay if you remove the battery box (you normally remove this to remove the TIP anyway) and remove the EGR. It slides right out of the hole made there. Just soak all the fasteners with WD40 while the engine is warm like an hour prior to starting work. This will go a long way to making the job much easier. Another tip is to use a quality 6 point socket. Do not use a 12-point.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Another thing I would suggest is watch a few videos. Cobb’s install video on the downpipe is very good. Edge has a video on YT that is nice for the turbo.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I agree with the suggestions you have been given, having installed a 3” catless dp/rp and removed and replaced the turbo twice over a span of ten years of ownership. I would suggest a solvent stronger that WD-40, though. It is more of a lubticant and water displacer. You need a penetrating solvent. Try PB Blaster. Inexpensive and works much better. Let it really soak. Warm engine and and let it soak at least an hour, preferably overnight. And absolutely make sure you use six point sockets only.

| Not Ranked : 0 score with an air impact it wasn't a problem. Someone could try to loosen the DP studs right after a long wot pull when the thing is cherry red if some bolt doesn't came out. removing the DP first will make room to take out the turbo bottom bracket

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you drop the whole engine, it will be extremely easy to take off the turbo and DP as one piece. But honestly a torch will be your friend. It's not too bad once all the shields are removed.
