Default DSC off or on? While driving spirited or hard luanching?

Ok I have looked all over the forums for this topic and having trouble finding a solid answer. I also have mixed reviews about people opinions about it. So is DSC supposed to be on while spirited driving or hard launching or off? Cause I know I have hard launched before with DSC on and wow thought I was gonna lose control of the vehicle. Also read that it could damage the vehicle while hard launching or racing with DSC on? Lol cant find a solid answer. Comments concerns or thoughts? Thanks.

If your tires spin and DSC is on it will correct the problem itself by applying the brakes to which ever side is spinning.
With it off your tires are free to do what your right foot tells them to do.

Its your choice do what you want.

If you're going to race someone turn it off. You're tires will spin but you'll have faster 1/4 mile times. Just donn't rev past 4k rpm when you drop the clutch or you'll liquify your tires.

As for "spirited driving" it really is just a matter of personal preference.

If you know how to drive, and I mean, really know, you'll be faster with it off.

That is most definitely not true. Gears 1 and 2 are limited to 10psi with DSC on or off. Get a boost gauge and watch. You can remove this limitation with an AP, SB, HT, etc.

OP you need the driver mod

quick easy way to tell you suck

1. go to autox4u.com
2. enroll in a local autox
3. attend said autox
4. do several runs with dsc on
5. do several runs with dsc off

the amount of extra time it took you to complete the course with dsc off is an indication that the computer is a better driver than you.

once you can reverse the time difference then you can drive with dsc off and actually have some sort of advantage

dsc off. You will learn to be a better driver. Only time Id recommend dsc ON would be during rain. most of the time i have it on, but thats cause i dont care on a daily drive. When i wanna have fun in the city, making fast turns, i turn that shit off.

I never have DSC/TC on. Made it a habit to push the button when I start the car. I don't need the computer to tell me when I should be taking my foot off the happy pedal.

When stuck in the snow with summer tires, ensure that DSC if OFF or you will be stuck for awhile!

holding DSC down while turning the car on disables TC and SWAS (Steering Wheel Angle Sensor).

With just DSC off it turns off the TC in a straight line, but still kicks in when turning.

When I remember, I always turn DSC off off. I just hate the computer jumping in my fun. I actually drive in the rain with DSC off usually, makes starts more fun.

Holding down the DSC button at start up does not disable the SWAS.

It turns off the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) and the TC (Traction Control)
gfather likes this.

Holding it doesnt do anything for the gen 2, just press the button once the car is running. You can tell it is disabled by the light that comes on on your dash.

What (if any) difference does it make when "after" you have held the DSC button while starting the car, then, hold it again for another 10-15 seconds & the light disapperars of the dash??
Dont know if it resets or turns the DSC back on, or just gets rid of the dash light....
Any ideas...????

It won't let you use the button at all until you turn the car off, and k know for a fact that tcs is turned back on because when I was testing it out, my from brakes grabbed HARD when I was spinning in first. My seatbelt locked on me I flew forward so hard.

Simple question, tricky answer.

When drag racing, DSC off for sure. Car will bog down due to wheelspin.

When spirited driving (curves, etc) I've found it's better with the DSC on. With the DSC off the tires tend to spin when exiting turns (due the immediate torque). Even if the DSC reacts the limited power almost helps sometimes.

This is with summer and or all seasons so I don't know how much different it is with track tires.

People this is so simple. We have two modes, DSC on and DSC off. When you press the button, the light comes on in the cluster, it is disabled. Press it again, the light goes away, it is disabled. That's all there is to it.

My right foot is my traction control, and my steering wheel is my stability control.

I prefer first gear with DSC off, when I shift into second I press the DSC button to turn it back on. Once I hit 4400RPM in 3rd I turn it back off...this seems to work pretty good for me.

For god's sake, turn it off before staging at the drag strip, or you will look like an ass, like I did twice in a row, when your car falls flat on it's face as you try to launch it.

Ok, seriously, just turn that shit off. TCS and DSC is for the random old 60 yr old guy who accidentally buys a speed. It's there so he wont kill himself from the ZOMG TORQUE STEER exiting a corner. Learn to manage your right foot.

If you notice, when you go from no throttle to full throttle there is a WHOLE RANGE in between that can be used. Develop those driving skills boys!

On the Speed6 it also helps for the annoying "falls on its face when you hit a bump and you have your foot in it" syndrome...

A lot of people say leaving the DSC on in the MPS/Mazdaspeed3 results in better times but I have set my fastest laps with it turned off.

Its a driver thing tho, if you're a very ragged (bad) driver then DSC will almost certainly make you go quicker. But if you drive smoothly to begin with then I find DSC kicking in can jump in and kill all your speed at the worst possible times.

Either way, when you're on the road, please use DSC, always. Nobody cares about your shitty street racing skills and if you lose control and kill somebody because you had DSC turned off and drove like a lunatic then I hope you enjoy your prison term.

As for the track, drive with it, then drive without it, then drive with it again. Compare and draw your own conclusions.
