(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Alright, for quite some time whenever accelerating around 3000rpm I would hear knocking which to me sounded like a loose CV or something around the driver side front tire. If I went easy I could avoid getting the knock so I didn't think much of it. Buddy and I finally jacked the car up and had a look. Everything seemed fine and after taking it for a drive I finally realized it was engine knock. I did a ton of research here on the forums to try and figure out what could be causing it. The car is at 180,000KM and has sat for 2 of the 4 years owning it. I have always gotten oil changes when needed but other than that not much has been done maintenance wise. It is also throwing Cylinder 3 Misfire code. A couple weeks ago I replaced the spark plugs (gapped to the right size). Removed the EGR valve (absolutely caked with carbon) and also removed the throttle body because it was there and cleaned them both. When removing the turbo inlet pipe I found the coupling to be incredibly damaged and not on properly so I replaced that. Put the car back together, took it for a drive and the knock was gone. A week later I decided to do Seafoam. I did a bunch of reading and youtube searching and determined it would be okay to do so. Well, I regret doing it. First, the car didn't smoke at all. We did everything correctly (Apparently not). Inserted the straw right before the throttle body and did what the can said. Let the car hot soak, fired it up and nothing. Took the car for a drive and immediately threw a code and began to make a ticking noise that was never there before. The ticking increases when in higher RPMs but also seems to go away at times. Car doesn't lose power and seems to drive fine but along with the ticking there is a slight knock that has come back. Im really not sure where the ticking is coming from and I honestly don't want to drive the car anymore until I know whats going on. I know these cars make a ticking noise that is normal but this is not normal. Its quite loud and noticeable when sitting in the car and only started happening after the Seafoam. I had plans to remove the intake manifold and clean the valves but seems I have other issues to take care of. Just looking for thoughts on this and what anyone thinks. I will continue to read and youtube search and see what I can find. I will also update on anything that comes up. Cheers. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Seafoam is a powerful degreaser, so if that got in your oil it's not ideal. Change the oil with some good full synthetic 0w40 or 5w40 and see after that how's the ticking. I just hope you're not mistaking the HPFP ticking with a possible engine issue.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The smoke show from my seafoam endeavor. Took it for a spirited drive and it smoked for several miles.
