Default Fuel cut or spark loss?

Hey Forum,

Semi-new to tuning however i had a stage 2 srt that i could just bolt everything on and not worry about tunning. It appears as tho things are a little different this time around with the speed 3. My first issue i have run into is that it appears at moderate speeds in a higher gear lets say 6th going 60mph if i am accelerating, in very rare cases it feels as tho the car may be slightly bogging out or loosing power and only for a second. A similar thing had happened in my srt in which i went to a step colder spark plug and better spark plug wires with less resistance. This case feels similar but the car only has 44k on it and i doubt i am running enough power to cause this.

I plan on running live data on my AP to see if its possibly a feul cut. I have heard that even with a few mods the feul pump in this car blows.

Any other suggestions or ideas of what it could be?

Thanks and Im excited to pick up as much information as I can on this forum.

do you have an ap already? it might be a fuel pump slowly dying. also, are you flooring it? never floor in 6th unless youre over like 3500rpms is the general consensus. im not saying you will definitely blow up, but its more possible. pull your spark plugs and see if they need to be replaced too

Ya I have the ap. I'm not flooring it just speeding up a little to let's say pass someone, def shouldn't have to downshift. Should I have colder spark plugs anyways? I don't think I'm running enough power to need them. In my data logging what should I look for. I'm running a stage 1 93 tune

I'm having this same problem. Always on the highway between 65-80mph. I have Denso step colder plugs gaped them to .027 but that was about a year ago and this is a new development.

I know fuel cut is more violent so you'd know if its that. I think it's probably blow out but I don't get my AP until today to check and if I even knew how to check I still don't think that I could diagnosis it as that.

One other thing I was thinking about is this.

How To: Ignition coil spring stretch mod

Not sure if its going to help but its a no cost option. There's so good info on blow out in that thread.

It sounds like spark. Check the gap on the plugs.

I had a hesitating problem. Checked the plugs and the gap was off. Regapped the plugs, and the problem went away.

It sounds to me like an overly aggressive load dynamics table, an aggressive boost dynamics table and a wgdc table that is a touch high. In 5th and 6th gears, the dynamics tables that allow the ecu authority to increase / decrease load have a tendancy to really wind up and over shoot / undershoot / overshoot, which makes your car feel as if it is studdering.

Ya Ill have to check the gaps in the plugs. I dont know if this matters but it also seems to only happen when my car first hits the highway. It is also occurs very seldom. Im going to try to replicate the issue while data logging. What in the log should I check to be off.

If you are blowing the plugs out, you will run silly rich... so log afr's.

I suspect you'll see heavy wgdc undulation though. (so log wgdc)

A standard wot log will probably do (includes afr, spark advance, wgdc, boost, load etc.).

For AFR im getting 14.7 at crusing and 11.7 WOT. Thats ok correct? For the rest i will need to check later today. What are the target numbers for these other fields?
Spark Adv, WGDC and load? Appreciate the insight. Mods are just cobb sri, corksport catback, and ap stage 1

Those afr's sound about right, but can you be sure the feeling you are getting is when the afr's are @ 11.7?

The target numbers for the other variables are not static, in that as the engine revs higher, boost rises and falls, etc... the values vary constantly.

Only a log would help us diagnose the issue.

If you can catch a log of it happening, I think we can nail it down.
