I think that's a BIG piece of the debate that's absent here. "Fast" is a little more than just average power, but also the work required to remain in the "sweet spot" of the curve. Reminds me of the people would discount the STi because its acceleration stats weren't that much better over the WRX. The WRX crosses 60 mph in 2nd gear (STI is in 3rd) and the 1/4 in 4th (STI is 5th or 6th). Those 1-2 extra shifts can account for deltas up to .6 seconds.


Same was said of the GTI vs. the Golf R until people realized the GTI was equipped with DSG:
