Default Looking to buy(link included)

Hi, been cruising for a while because I'm looking to buy. Typical decision to buy modded or not.
potential car is http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Mazda/MAZ...howcpo=ShowCPO
My main question is how easy is it to check the health of the engine with the accessport?
A compression test is obviously still recommended right?
This car is somewhat concerning because it doesn't mention having an upgraded HPFP or internals.
Does anyone know a show near north T.O that would be able to check it out?

Thanks in advance.

Darryl

Unfortunately your link isn't opening for me through tapatalk. What's the specs on the car? Mileage, year, etc etc. I am north of Toronto as well. You mention upgraded HPFP internals, does it have a downpipe?

A compression test is a must if this car has been modified.

I fixed your link.

I also made notes to his sale post.

2008.5 mazdaspeed 3 turbocharged 300hp and 310 torque!! Never winter driven!!!
$4000 in high performance parts installed!..cobb accessport programer ($450 Used, $85 more new),cobb short ram intake ($120 Used), cobb intel hose ($120 Used), down pipe ($350 Used) ,short shifter ($120 or so), HKS blow off valve (ricer fuck, should recirc, but $150), also includes OEM parts! used synthetic oil 5w40!!(whooop dee fucking do)
He is missing mods to get $4000.

1) GET THE VIN. POST IT HERE.
2) No HPFP, no bueno. As in call him what kind of fuel pump internals are in and can he send a logo with AP. IF he says factory, tell him his shit is about to explode, MSF has posted the VIN in this thread so anyone who Googles, will see his car can eat a bag of dicks.
3) Read link 1 in my sig.

Thanks guys, there is a chance is has upgraded FP but he forgot/neglected to mention. From the pics he also has a catch can and didn't mention that so there is a chance. I will contact him again and see if he has one.
Also, same question, if he does have upgraded internals or FP how easy is it to check his engine health using AP logs?

AP logs wont tell you anything except that the motor is being starved of fuel. Do a compression test and see what it reads. If I were you though I would keep looking, who knows how long hes had those mods and beaten on the car with no internals.

Thanks, that is my thought as well. One reason it is appealing tho is the price. Cheaper than similar bone stock and if I buy I would like a few of the more simple mods. Atleast intake and AP.

I put in bold this statement. With cars like the speed I would have piece of mind buying a stock one for a little bit more and doing the work myself so that I know its right and what not. Now ask yourself this why is he selling his car? Also if no FP internals you'll end up dropping more money if this thing goes boom. In my personal opinion just take caution when buying a modded car.

Find one bone stock that hasn't been tampered with.. it would be ideal to buy from some 40 year old that just wanted a cool looking mazda3, vs a person who did a bunch of performance work and drove put hard miles on the car.

Thanks guys. Very good points, I basically feel the exact same way and I feel like a breakdown/prob would always be in the back of my mind if I buy modded like that. The thought of saving the money but rolling the dice is risky I realize.

all the above advice is sound and you should listen to it.

My 2 cents, it has a fararri sticker on the head unit. I would stay far away from that thing.

Where do you live? I'll sell you my stock MGM 09 Speed3 with 37k miles. I bought it two months ago as a certified pre-owned, although not sure if the warranty would transfer without a fee.
