Default Mazdaspeed 3 fmic core 600hp + first gen

Hi guys

I'm getting a new turbo soon and now looking for a intercooler that will be able to support the turbo (gtx35). I saw a nice tread in here about some intercooler for speed 1 and 2 gen.. Thing is that they seems to be 500hp restrictive .. I know that ATP does a 600hp ready intercooler but if possible I'm trying to avoid to rebuy a whole new intercooler kit I'd prefer only the core. Anyone saw something interesting ? Otherwise any intercooler full kit that you guys would recommend ? (Btw I'm currently running a cxracing kit)

Thanks

with a sawzall you could get any of them to fit, you're most likely going to need to do some cutting even with the smaller cores.

No need to touch crash bar? Correct me if I'm wrong but there's some parts that if you cut/modify it'll become invalid to insurance ?

if you have the room you can tuck it behind the crashbar, I know on the ms6 the room is there to do so, not too sure on the ms3. most likely would need some cutting or possibly an aftermarket crashbar

no idea from me, I believe someone else has done it but for the most part you might be on your own for the research and fab work.

Just use meth to chill your intake charge. Then you also have the benefits of extra fueling.

If you want a core big enough to cover 600hp, you are going to have to cut the crash bar some. I have a tr1035 and i had to notch and weld back together my crash bar. There is just no way to make something much bigger than a TR8L fit.

If you swap in a larger turbo without notifying your insurer, that will also invalidate your insurance.

Make your smaller intercooler more efficient by spraying MORE meth.

No.

CX Racing cores are garbage. I imagine a much smaller, but efficient core is better than that.

You're going to be hard pressed to find a core that will flow enough for 600hp and fit without cutting or removing the crashbar.

Welp, it looks like "The Man" is limiting your choices. it's either a small uber efficient FMIC or an excellent TMIC and meth injection.

What is a "small uber efficient fmic" to you? 500hp rated (TR8)? Or you know some others?

You might have to change your Horsepower goals to stay legal. Since a FMIC that can support that power will require modification.

Corksport does make small FMIC that does not require a Crash bar modification. But that probably not going to fit with your goals.

Gotcha ... might need to do it then... Is it significant when you cut the crash bar?

OP, is it legal or approved by your insurance to run methanol injection? I highly doubt they would be accepting of a system that specifically states it is for off-road use only, like every meth kit I have seen.

As @MS3Shadow; said, I think you may need to re-think your goals. Or at least your intent to stay 100% compliant with your insurance.

It depends on the Core.

Look that people build threads and also Corksport pictures and manual to get a general idea.

I would bet money that insurance would not approve of a meth kit, whether it explicitly says anything about methanol injection or not.

In all reality, many of us run the risk of being denied claims due to modifications. Its a choice/risk you've got to make if you want that kind of power easily.

I imagine that you could have a custom IC core made, that would fit the space you have, and flow enough for 600hp. However, that will get very costly. Way more costly than any CX Racing parts.
