MS6 Power Steering Cooler

I'm getting a leak where the rubber hose meets the PS cooler - it seems that the tubing is corroded - anyone else have had this problem and if so what did you do?? I don't feel like shelling out $300+ for an OEM unit.

I've got a cooler similar to this one:

Dyno-Cool Power Steering Cooler 12213 | eBay

I was going to use it with a FMIC, but decided to stick with my TMIC, so its just
sitting on my bench. If you want it for $25, I'll eat the shipping.

There is a write up somewhere on doing a aftermarket PS coller swap, its pretty easy and alot cheaper. Do some searches and find it.

I might take you up on that offer. Is it brand new?? Would this mount in the stock location or in front of the radiator??

I'm actually working on making power steering cooler kits.

I've got everything in stock, and I should have a MS6 to fit the kit in about a week.

Yes, its brand new, wrapped in plastic. I haven't opened it to look at the actual
cooler, you can see the hardware and hose, but the cooler is sandwiched between
cardboard.

I don't want to step on Matt's program, so I'll let you see what he comes up with
if you'd like.

I've been thinking a real cooler instead of the stupid tube in the way of everything
OEM cooler might be a better way to go myself.

Thanks man. But don't let me hold you back from selling what you got sitting around.

The coolers I'm using are a stacked plate design. I have already ran this cooler on my MS6, way back in the day, and it held up to a couple track days, with no issues. The cooler lowered the temps 20-30%, and I'll be offering a 50% larger cooler.

I had a tube cooler on before this one, and it sprung a leak, after a couple months. I just remembered I had sent it in for warranty, like 2yrs ago, and I never got it back.

Oh well.

The OEM cooler blows for any type of hard driving.

Soooo, are you making a kit for the 3's, too? If so, I just might be in the market for one.

I'm also looking for the small piece of rubber hose that goes between the line and cooler. Can't find anything from mazda - is this something i can buy at NAPA or Advance?? I refuse to buy anything from AutoZone. They are useless. At least the ones near me are lol

Yes, for the gen1's. It'll be great for ppl with FMICs, since it replaces the old bulky lines.

If you're talking about that little like 3-4" section of hose, it'll be tricky to find a replacement, since it goes from 3/8" to 1/2" inner dia

After changing my tranny fluid today, I took a closer look and noticed its leaking from both ends of that small piece of hose. Not sure if it is the hose or the clamps... wondering if Mazda sells that short hose.

Yea that will work beautifully. Just use some hose clamps on each end to secure it
