Default Mazdaspeed6 PMM (feedback after 50K)

Hello MS6 masters,

It's been a few years since I last posted, but i wanted to share some experience and ask for feedback. So I purchased my MS6 in August 2012 at 45K. I just reached 90K, and I'm looking at repalcing my PMM for a 3rd time (which means this would be my 4th mount). The first time I just went OEM, the 2nd time I went JBR 70 duro, but it was too harsh, so I just settled again for OEM mount.

At this point, I am looking to replace again and I would rather sell the car then buy that same OEM POS again. I do not drive the car agressively, in any objective terms, the fact that the mount has failed so many times is just an absurd design flaw that I'm stupid enough to keep accepting as something I must live with.

That being said, why do y'all think they are failing this much for me? Also, previous posts have noted a Rockauto solid replacement for about $40. Can anyone confirm the part number? I beleive it's Anchor 9182, but want to confirm before I purchase. Is there any downside to getting a solid rubber mount vs. the gel filled one?

Thanks,

also for refernece, the local dealership quoted the replacement part at $163. This has gone up over the years as I tihnk I remember it being more like $120 in years past. I can guess these will continue to go up in price until they are not longer available and I'm just screwed.

MS6 with 90K miles that hasen't been shitwhipped all the time.........let me know if you sell it, I will fix that motor mount.

In all actuality, I haven't done a PMM on my car so I am worthless. Best of luck finding something that works.

Thanks man! I'll reach out if I decide to sell. I was really just trying to make a point. My most surprisomg thing is that I've done 50K miles and I'm looking at a 3rd replacement...it's hard for me to put into words how baffling that is to me. Yes, I drove it "a little" hard when I first got it. But after I almost ran off a cliff on Halloween of 2012 and tore up my first engine mount, I dialed back the aggressive driving. I also became more frugal, and realized that driving hard led to more wear and tear = $$$.

How can these factory mounts be failing that much, and if a solid rubber mount is such an "obvious fix", why didn't Mazda design it that way to begin with. There has to be some downsides. I have gathered that the gel will explode/leak signaling failure vs. straight failing of a rubber mount?

I have an 06 MS6, purchased in 2012, with 46ooomi and now have 88k, is your perhaps WWP, LOL. I have never replaced my PMM. I have a CP-e RMM and dont launch the car but I do regularly accelerate heavily and shift quick. Wishing I had grabbed a CS TM insert when they were available. Are you running an OEM RMM, and what is its condition? Has your car ever been in an accident?

@SyntheticAtmosphere

Minor front end collision (5mph), no significant accident. I have a CS RMM in good condition. I thought strengthing that Mount would lead to less wear on the PMM, but doesn't seem so.

Can anyone confirm the Anchor 9182 solid rubber mount as working for the MS6? On RockAuto I still see it listing as "Hydraulic", which would lead me to assume it has oil/gel inside of it?

Why is it failing? No idea as its not common. Seems more common on MS3's. I'd go with OEM or Damonds new PMM. My nod to the latter. Doubt you will ever make the Damond mount fail!

As far as Rock Auto if you type in the right vehicle the part will fit. Never had an issue with them listing the wrong part number for my MS6.

Whats the condition of your TMM? Might want to change that and get some Corksport inserts for it.

@Thor Hammer

I was under the impression that OEM PMM failure was quite common on speeds (both MS6 and MS3). I could be mistaken, but it's sure been common for me.

I am researching the Damond Mount more. This is my daily so I really don't want more NVH. I tried the JBR PMM a few years back and it was terrible from a daily perspective.

I have it entered correctly on Rock Auto. I may try the cheap Anchor mount and see how it goes.
