I could make you a plain steel one if you just want to coat it yourself. With no engraving and no coating, I could get it to you for like $25 or so plus shipping. PM me if you are interested.

Does anyone know if the thread on a genpu shifter is the same as the genwon? I just used a thread gauge on mine. I assume they are the same, but I figure I should double check for any differences.

Just got the ok from Haltech tonight. This week I will be hearing back on the cost to get them made. Trying to figure out how much to sell them for.

Maybe a bit still on getting them done, I wasn't planning on selling these from the get go so Im kinda starting from square 1.

If you are interested in one with no coating (just plain steel) and no engraving then that can probably be done. PM me if you want.

SS, then bead blasted. If you engrave it after blasting, the pattern will shine and the rest will be matte.

Nice job.

Nice job.
I realized just how expensive stainless is though. I think it will put the price to high for me to do in such small quantities.

Summit racing has a simple powder coating system. All you need is a place to do it, and a toaster oven for small parts. Here is a link, and best of luck to you!

The painting I was referring to was the red in the engraving. The coating on the outside is a black chrome.

Still, that powder coat may come in handy with other projects. I will keep it in mind. Thanks!

There are a couple other finishes that would work to. Black chrome is awesome, Melonite is used on steel and SS. If the metal is polished, then it comes out shiney black. Cerakote is a high temp bake on finish, also fairly cheap.

Yeah, Ive looked into a couple other coating types, and if this run goes well and I decide to make more I will look into other options.

The reason I went with the black chrome was cause some shit from my work was going to get it and they needed to meet a minimum and offered to do my knob for free. Too good a deal to pass up.

Hey man, glad you like it. I wondered how it went. Throw up a pic when you plasti-dip it (or whatever you plan on doing)

If you plasti-dip it will only last a few weeks. I did my TWM so it wouldn't be so frigging hot in the summer. It worked great and even added a little grip.

And then it started peeling at the bottom and two weeks later was completely off. I might revisit the idea next summer and then just re-do it every few weeks (steel knobs in AZ summer heat are like grabbing a hot frying pan)

this is why i wanted to platidip haha. but winter is coming around so maybe it will last longer and insulate it

also i would like to note the machining is beautiful but there are still a few marks which are expected for hand machining. so if you are a perfectionist suck it up for being done by hand it is amazing. much respect

I didn't spray any clear over it, maybe that would've helped. I'll probably try it again. I have a whole can of that crap left.

Yeah, I didnt polish the shit out of it like I could have because you said you were coating it. You may want to take some scotch bright or something to it if the coating dosent stick. Scuffing up the surface will give you a lot more holding power. Also, I dont know how plastidip works, but primer might help too.

I plan on doing all the engraving at once because I would waste so much time setting them up one at a time. So it will be once I start cranking out a couple more knobs. Maybe 2 weeks if all goes well.

How much are you asking for a plain polished with no engraving? I'm totally down for one!

Does anyone know if the thread on a genpu shifter is the same as the genwon? I just used a thread gauge on mine. I assume they are the same, but I figure I should double check for any differences.
I want a bare one (yeshomo)

$25 plus shipping? I'm down sending you a pm.

Nah, the freaking chrome company guy I was talking to is on vacation this week (figures) Dont quote me on it, but Im thinking probably around $65 shipped. I dont think it will be more then a $10 swing in either direction on that.

I may ask a $5 premium on the painted engraving because its such a bitch. That is unless I figure out an easier way to do it.

Wow, that's a hefty piece of billet. I'm actually surprised it weighs that much, but that's why it's called a "heavy shift knob"! Kudos on a great design and awesome execution.
