navi/dvd head unit

ok , i installed it today. (not completely wired in.)

fits well...i gotta move some of the wire bundles around some more so its perfectly flush.

now....powers up...seems to be ready to work, radio functions, cd functions, dvd functions, navi functions (no data since i havent dl any software), steering wheel works etc.

here is the part that im lost on. NO SOUND!!!

i have bose 6cd stocker radio on my gt. ill post some install pics and also a shot on the back of the stock radio.....the right plug I have no replacement for...this is why i am assuming the sound is mute all the time, i am left with a connector inside the dash that I have no idea where to plug...... any suggestions on how to make it connect so i can get sound would be great.

also....notice my gaping hole in the dash....i had cut out and epoxy ed a gtech down there for all my testing...but it fell off and i got pissed and chucked it out the window on the fwy...so i need a new trim piece. ill buy one this weekend.

anyways....i havent really tested anything on the unit since i got no sound...but all functions that it seems to advertise work. so good stuff so far.

Haha.. damn dude, I'm about to give up trying to figure out what people are selling and what your actually getting. That unit is completely different from the one Ken posted pics of, both the case and the GUI. Yours does appear to be a Caska 3635. Is that the actual unit going out to everyone then you have pictures of? Where there model numbers anywhere or a manual?

yes i got it all figured out. for those who buy this from ken this is what u have to do.

the head unit sold to us has a wire labeled amp-c...all u need to do is connect it to a 12v ignition source (so it only powers up when key is on acc etc) and presto. i got my sound.

now ...i want to be clear on a few things so no one gets it without knowing the details...or what i understand them to be so far.

im not sure how u tell a digital from an analog screen apart but I think i got the analog.......im assuming a digital would look more like the psp screen...dont get me wrong..it looks good nonetheless.

also....i havent figured out how to make my display (above the head unit) work for temp....mileage etc etc.... so that is worth noting.

video looks good.... sound is better than stock also.... I am 100 % happy with this. how it compares to other models ..idk and i dont really care. i pod works awesome also and i am really happy about that

yes,,, i would appreciate that . also aaron did u have any problems with the buttons ligghting up ??? on mine the buttons light up orange and after like 2 seconds they all go dark.

i gotta figure that shit out

well, i tried figuring it out..i first thought it was a short, but it behaves NOT in a random manner. sometimes the ligts stay on and sometimes the buttons arent lit.

im gonna see if anything on the users manual has any reference but i doubt u can control that. must be something im missing or a glitch.

Lenny you got a good unit for a steal, less than 1/2 price. The shit you got is top notch with all the features. Just a FYI

CA3035 - Analog screen, DSS GUI that you have looks far better than the CA3635
CA3635 - New model, digital screen, cheesy atari looking GUI

Both come in silver and black, and honestly you probably can't tell much a difference between the analog and digital screen, so it would come down to GUI and color choices really. The trip computer and ambient issues on the 3035 can prob be fixed with a bit of wiring hax.

Lenny can you confirm if these work:

--> From what I know, it will work. I think MS3's came with the Bose system. I think its just the amping issue IF there is one (with it being super amped, but Lenny may know this forsure)

Also Lennys SHOULD have came with a separate RCA cable group that has the other female brown amp C cable that should plug into the male amp c cable on the main harness. That would mean you don't have to spice or cut anything at all completely plug&play. Lenny has to confirm that since i don't think he looked for it before slicing the wire.

1) yes i have a gt and it does work with facotry bose system and it definitely sounds better!!

now for the negatives, because I want to be str8 with anyone here.

a) clock/mpg/radio stations dont display on stock display over the head unit. (in time maybe someone can figure out how to re wire that)
b) illumination on the buttons only takes place when power up th eunit, and after its powered up u start the vehicle. (again maybe some wire splicing from illumination wire to a headlight wire might do the trick)
c) gps works fine, but i am still trying to pirate me some software that will work...aaron let me dl his igo8 software and it took, the gps tracks , but i cant figure out how to properly load the maps on the sd card for them to be read.

way better sound than stock bose, louder , more bass without distortion.
bluetooth works like a charm, can call from radio and no problems

so far i am very happy, and eagerly waiting someone with some technical knowledge of radios and wiring to get everything working right

im gonna kick you in the head lenny. One read my post an answer if you have an RCV cable group that also has an amp c brown why cause if you do you wouldn't havHBS.txt file to read only under windows properties

no phil the brown "amp c" wire from the 24 pin connector is just dangling there. it needs a power source and I dont see any other wires either stock or provided by new hu that has "amp" c on it or are brown.

basically the blue wire on the 24 pin connector that bioevolve took a pic of connects to the brown amp c wire but the brown amp c wire is unused on the harness provided by the new hu ....

so, simplest thing is to just connect the 24 pin connectors to each other and then just hook up the brown to an ignition 12 v source.

what I am thinking is that this system was for reg mazda with no bose, so this is the way u "juice" the bose amp and get sound.

idk...who knows. anyone else get this and have a snmarter way please post up.

Also I came up with a way to get the lights to work I had it maped out when I was gonna by this thing 6 months ago. ok guys. how is a brown wire from a bundle on the hu side gonna connect to itself and draw 12v ignition?

it comes with like 3 rca wrire groups , none of them say amp c nor are they brown color. and if they did what would u do? plug the brown wire from the 24 pin connector on the hu side onto itself? and that would somehow get a 12v ign source?

simple question here...has anyone with this model done this?? cuz I seem to be the only one that has tried connecting this radio (or at least post about it) and by your own account phil/aaron i do not have the same radio as u guys.

so please, if u bought this radio show through pics what phil is talking about because I dont see how u can get around splicing into a 12v ign source.


also, a diagram showing which is the illumination wire to connect to dimmer/headlight wires would be awesome, ill see what bio has to offer.

btw, i suck at electronics so by no means what i state should be construed as fact buti report what i see to the best of my abilities in this field.

I should have just had PG send me one figure all this shit out then send it back to them lol.

Lenny think of it this way the stock harness pluges into the brown aftermark brown connector which all the wires get small and go into the black or white connector that actually plugs into HU. On my modle at least theres a 5 plug goup spot for the ipod cables rca cables and rearview camera cables on the left side of the back if you don't have any of that then you don't have the same HU and im wasting my time but if you do you plug the rca group in on the left hand side and met that wire up with the one coming from the brown after market connector coming from the stock harness.

im gonna go look at the bundles right nbow.....i never used them and will see which one says anything remotely close to amp

hahhahahah upon firther looking there is a brown wire that says amp c on one of the rca bundles hahahahah , i dont know how i missed it wtf i looked at the bundles all weekend looking for it and never saw it....this time i just grabbed the bundles and it was right there, i believe gnomes or elves have been fucking with my equipment!!!!!

so...wire splicing is not necessary .

its a 10 pin connector that plugs into the back of the new hu

no prob give me a little on the illumination thing if you can post back up the wiring diagram I can figure it out for you. it was a matter of connecting a red and white cable on the aftermarket to a red 12v on the stock harness. don't hold me to that till i see the diagram.
