Default New coating for the E4 Shift knobs

We are currently testing a few knobs with a new "rubberized" powder coat on them. The new coating is supposed to be more insulating than other coatings, so it will transfer less heat and cold through the knob.

We will keep everyone apprised as to the outcome.

I wouldn't mind a nice shift knob that didn't double as a lighter in the heat

I'd be game as well. I hated my TWM this past winter in freezing my hand so bad it felt like it was burning, not a big fan at all. Not really looking forward to this summer either when its hotter than the depths of hell and really does burn my hand.

We're looking at different designs. First, I want to get the current design squared away in terms of engraving depth and width. Then, I want to get the coatings squared away. Then, finally, I can look at another model.

i'm interested in this as well. the hot shift knob doesnt bother me so much as the freezing cold one. but either way, one that was even just a little less temperature sensitive would be worth the cost. so good luck with this.
a weighted shift knob helps a lot imho, and i'm already interested in trying your product. this would just be icing on the cake. if it works!
so i'm subbin.

Well, I can say that it definitely cuts down on the temp swings. I am more interested in durability. That's what I am testing for.

If the coating doesn't work out would leather wrapping be an option?

Well, it appears that it's not holding up as intended.

If your knob with rubberized coating is peeling, please contact us for a replacement.

Thanks

Scott

I want to bump this back up.

We're going to begin shipping the new ones on Friday with the revised coating. If your knob is peeling please email me to get return instructions so I can ship out your new one asap.

Thanks

Scott

yes. That was part of the delay was making sure it was going to be good to go. It's 100% ready for a long life of service.

I have the new, black rubberized one and it's GREAT. Been on the car a week or so, and it's holding up perfectly. The knob is heavy, but I prefer that with the JBARONE SSP, as it provides just the right weight for slipping into gear.

I don't usually photograph my knob for strangers on the internet, but here it is:

Sorry the pics kind of suck. My 7MP camera isn't as good as it claims to be.

The pics in this thread are better:

look at pics of my knob

Still snowing here, so I can't tell you how hot it gets. Supposed to be 80 Wednesday...I'll post at the end of the day. But it is still a black knob...the black leather got REALLY hot, so I suspect black rubber will too.

We had a SCORCHING 70 degrees today, and sitting in the sun, the knob got....hot. Not unbearable, but hot.

However, durability-wise, it is holding up WELL.
