NEWB to KR

Hello all, new to the forums and I appreciate all of you and your questions, suggestions, and advice. So I ended up buying a Mazdaspeed 3 recently because of I've always loved Mazda, owned an RX8 before and decided I wanted a little more SPEED (no pun intended). I ended up buying a highly modified Speed3 and I'm quite the noob to tuning, building, etc. but with how much information is on the internet, i figured it couldn't be too difficult to learn as i go (go figure, I buy a highly modified car to start with:smashfreakB:). The car, mechanically, seems pretty sound, and I've taken an interest in the forums to learn all about what my vehicle and accessport is telling me.

One thing that tends to linger in my mind as I'm driving is the little section in my Accessport titled "KR." I actually drive around with it on constantly and always seem to grab it and check the reading after I do a WOT pull or I hear a sound that seems fishy (ie backfire). I've seen some pretty high readings (1-2*) and now that I've learned how to datalog, I found that it looks good under a WOT pull and the zoom zooming around town will show some pretty interesting readings.

Now, I've done my fair share of exploring the forums and learning about Timing and how it is affected with daily driving, and WOT pulls. Today, I got into a little pull with an EVO X and it sure was fun, but i heard an interesting noise that may have been attributed to how close/possibly over redline i was but, when i checked my KR reading after my fun with the EVO, I read a 4.2*. You could imagine how much i was sh**ing my pants. So i got home, parked it and wondered about it for an hour or two about what it could have been. I finally gave in and took the car for some datalogging. I ended up checking my datalogs (attached), and to my surprise, they looked fine. Now my question is, what could my reading of 4.2* KR be a result of? Does the PCM cut timing as a result of over revving (past redline) and throw a reading like this?

Please be easy on my ignorance, and if there is a thread that i haven't found, could somebody point me in the direction? Thanks for your continued awesomeness! :dunce:

Im far from an expert so Ill ask the others to confirm or deny for me, but might it be a rmm going bad? i was getting interment knock readings around those levels until i swapped the stock mount for a deamon rmm. with the engine slopping around the knock sensor becomes upset.

Thanks for the feedback. Where did you see the majority of your hits on your KR regarding your RMM going bad? I just found it insane that I had a reading like that, especially when my KR has been relatively unscathed on any other pull. Is it something that you would have seen on a hard pull like mine?

usually pulling to pass i was getting numbers in the mid to high 3's i haven't had that since i replaced it. does the shifting feel alright or do you have to really slip the clutch to keep the drive line from clunking?

Car shifts great, no issues. It actually pulls really well, that’s why I was confused. And I was pushing it pretty hard this particular pull, hitting close to or above redline.
