Default Speed life pt2

Hey guys, previously speed owner. 3 years ago I had to trade my speed in, and recently just found one on Craigslist that I could buy out right. Pretty wicked, it’s the exact car minus the VINs of what I had lol. Any way, picked it up for $1300. Was misfiring and claimed to have low compression in cylinder 4. Battery was dead to all hell. Replaced battery and a fresh set of Denso ITV22 gapped to .26-.28. Previous owner took it to a shop where they put in denso platinums gapped at .42-.44. Car started right up, let it sit and idle for about an hour last night. I want to retest the compression but I believe the motor is fine. Body needs some TLC. Any way here is video.

Welcome back. I too got rid of my first speed and then ventured my way back because I missed it so much.

I see no sign of smoke from the exhaust, so maybe compression is not actually down on that one cylinder. If it is on stock tune and has no downpipe, it will run better with stock heat range plugs. Just saying. I barely need one step colder with catless dp/rp, CAI, 18-19 psi tune tapering to 15 at redline and hpfp internals and pretty aggressive timing advance up top.

I actually probably don't need colder plugs, just trying to provide a little protection against detonation at the expense of probably giving up a few horsepower.

You are right that the plugs do need to be iridium fine wire and need to be gapped down to .026-.028". Sure you didn't mean .26. That's over a quarter inch gap. I'm sure you just left out a zero up front.

Great price. Congrats. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the car.
thanks man! yeah i def meant .026-.028 haha. sorry about that. i do have the shroud, this was after me finishing putting everything back together and getting it started haha but yeah its stock DP as far as i know. i haven't really torn it apart. it has street unit mounts . i know the 2nd owner didn't do that. first owner had to of modded it. there are red colored sway bars as well. I want to pull the HPFP to see if its stock internals or upgraded. solid service history with it though from both owners. i didn't see smoke either and that video was taken well after it was idling.

thanks! its got 119k. yeah he was asking $2k but he had some new blizzak tires on it and still had the stock wheels so i asked if he'd take the blizzaks off and got him down to $1300. some rust in the wheel wells and some dents on the roof i assume maybe from hail and bumpers need paint but other than that body is pretty decent.

thanks man. yeah it was a wound that could not heal. i missed it terribly. i had SRI w/TIP, DP, HPFP internals, APv3, BPV, and exhaust and loved that thing. Before getting rid of it, i had an act 6 puck clutch and front mount ready to go in. i sold the clutch but held onto the front mount because I was determined to find one in the future.

That is a great find. Hopefully you don't come across any other issues. Good luck and welcome back.

Hey guys, so I got around to pulling the fuel pump today. Well I believe it has stock internals. The previous speed I had 3 years ago I bought auto tech internals and held onto the set that was in there. I didn’t not realize the are upgraded internals. So hell yeah, saves me some $$$, but my question is, what brand are they. There’s no markings on the barrel like autotech does with theirs. I was thinking corksport but didn’t they release theirs in like 2014? Any way here are pics...
