Default Stock BPV has no noise?

Hey everyone,

I installed a Cobb SRI + eBay TIP and now I can hear the spool of my turbo. It sounds delicious. However, there isn't the whooshing or flutter noise when I let off the gas pedal?

I'd love to hear that sound but obviously do not want compressor surge. So before I spent more on a BPV, is there anyway to mod the stock one without causing compressor surge? I heard you can mod the stock one some how?

THank you!

HKS SSQV in full recirc sounds amazing and you shouldn't have surge problems at all.

I have the Corksport BPV which is full recirc. Looks like stock. I couldn't hear it with my stock intake on, but was plenty loud for my taste when I put on a 3.5" intake.

If you have an intake and can't even hear the stock BPV, I'd day that B is broken.

Its worth noting that you can barely hear the BOV with a silicone TIP, wheras the hard plastic stock one or aftermarket metal one is louder.

If you want power and smooth, seamless, performance with correct AFR's and are not boosting above 20 psi, the correct and best BPV is the OEM model. It is quite sophisticated and simply works.

Running in full recirc mode is best for this engine, as farting already metered air to atmosphere screws up the AFRs during and right after the shift.

If you want arm pit fart sounds, then you are, with respect, a ricer and not really interested in performance. Going after that sound at the expense of performance is grade school school yard antics, IMHO, just to impress juvenile friends.

There are no performance gains by using an aftermarket BPV unless your stock BPV is leaking. That is not likely until you get heavily modded and are safely boosting above 20 psi. Yes, it's that good. In fact, a few years back one leading car magazine compared the stock Mazdaspeed BPV with the most popular aftermarket BPV/BOV and found that it held boost longer and higher.

FWIW, if you have a good aftermarket intake, you should be able to hear the BPV release at a throttle lift during shifts. That is incidental and not intentional.
