Thoughts on 3 inch exhaust?

Have a little money laying around so I was wondering if it would be worth it to get a 3 inch exhaust. I already took out both my resonators and the 2nd cat and it sounds amazing but i was wondering instead of getting a catback, i could just get a 3 inch exhaust before the 2nd cat all the way out. Would that make a difference in sound? I still have the muffler and there is a exhaust shop here that does excellent work and is pretty cheap so just need the censuse of others.

Didn't you just return your down pipe? Should put that on,not a 3inch exhaust

Assuming you're spending money to gain performance. Otherwise, if you just want it to sound different/louder, go for it!
