That's definitely what it is. No one want's to sit and take the time to go over things correctly and take it all into consideration to decipher what it was.

Damn it! I've tried to type out this long ass post 3 times now and each time I keep getting an error. So I'm going to try typing this, then editing my post to see if that works.

Edit: Fucking figures. Will type out my original post shortly.

Edit x 2: This was a lot to read, lol. I only have one thing to add that I don't think I have seen anyone else say yet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at one point you said that you were afraid to ask the dealer about the rumbling for fear that they would quote you more to fix it. If you ever have to take your car to another dealer or car repair shop for anything at all, do not ever be afraid to ask them what's wrong. You're paying them a diagnostic fee to diagnose what's wrong with the car. What good does that do you if they don't check everything that you are concerned about? Perfect example.

My rear diff is semi-fucked. Needs to be repaired or replaced. Before I knew what was wrong with it, I took it to the dealership. They took a look at it for a while and came back to the waiting room to tell me this. "It's going to be $1,420 to fix it or $1,900 to replace it with a used diff that has 55k miles on it." That's all they told me. I had to probe to get answers on what exactly is wrong with it, what parts am I going to need to fix it, can I get a printed quote of the parts and labor, several other questions that I needed to know to be able to fix it myself. But if I never would have asked those questions, then I could have ended up buying the wrong parts and not having what I need or just blindly paying them to do something that might not have needed to be done.

Even when you're working on the car by yourself or with someone else, never be afraid to ask questions about something that you're unsure about. That's how you learn. I think that's all that I had to say. I'm trying to hurry to type, because my boss is standing behind me now, lol.

That thing was a tank though, being young and reckless I would rip through dirt/gravel roads at retarded speeds and it never broke down on me.

Yeah haha to be fair the shit I put it thru (because young and gave zero shits) it held up pretty well. The worst that I ever had was the timing belt went on the highway and I coasted it into a Mazda dealership and my 3rd party warranty wouldn't cover it because I "moved it from where it happened".

It was covered in snowboard stickers. I think it almost went a year once without being washed.

That's not what I mean haha I'm saying that I had never experienced anything that would lead me to believe my clutch was bad. I never had the clutch slip, I never had a hard time going into gear, I never had a problem with how the pedal felt. Everything was pretty good. The car shifted great. Then out of nowhere that shit happens? That's why I'm saying that Payne's explanation is probably what actually happened.

As you guys can see, I had a LUK clutch kit on the car.
This just in, I called it all the way back on page 2....

While this may not be the case, it could explain the rumbling sound that you heard as its usually what has gotten described to me in this situation as well. I've seen probably 3-4 events similar to this in my time wrenching.

Either way its hard to say without atleast pulling the inspection cover. You might aswell go ahead and replace the slave either way as its a known bad item at this point.
I still stand by the fact that the slave is what let the clutch go so early. LUK makes good parts (I should know as my neighbor is an engineer there, lol) & that should've lasted you a lot longer. The slave has likely been going out for some time but you just didn't notice the slipping since its a new car to you.

Either way, glad you got it figured out and taken care of.

idk why but I found myself actually chuckling about that last bit.. you have a cool boss lol..

@OP glad it's fixed and over with! This has me second guessing going with a BT upgrade even though I make plenty to pay for everything with my car + maintenance and mods.
