Default Underside routed FMIC Piping

So Im building an engine for my speed. Right not Im running an older PG piping kit to a tr8l core, but its really not a great set up. Looking to possibly do something new and thinking about the possibility of going underside for the routing.

I know @Realgib3; has done it, but Im having trouble finding anyone else. I know there is no kits out there for it. Debating on seeing what I would need to make my PG kit work, or get an idea of what a decent cost would be to just have it made up custom.

Looking to get others thoughts on this. Bad idea for a DD? any benefits besides a nice clean look? Any down sides?

Are you talking about having the outlet of the turbo compressor facing down? If so try find pics of the way fswerks routes their duratec focus turbo kit.

Yeah, thinking of clocking the turbo and running all the piping below.

And thanks, I will look that up.

I also have been considering this, and I'm pretty sure I have seen/read about a few other people on here that have done this. I'll try to find the threads/pictures I am thinking of.

I can't see there being much change or benefit in performance, but I haven't really looked into it and am not smart enough to figure that out without testing both. My desire to do this was based on slight concerns about rubbing on coolant lines up front, a cleaner look, and I'm lazy and would prefer not to remove a pipe to change plugs.

the only benefit I could really see is if the routing ended up being shorter. That plus not having to remove anything to work on certain things.

That was my thought too. Just haven't measured it and guessed that it can't be much longer than current routing options.

They routed the piping on the underside of the focus only because it lacked the space between the valve cover and the hood. It is for sure a clean look but kind of a pita. The speed with the raised hood is perfect for running over the top side. I have this kit on my focus and it is 2" piping from the turbo to the fmic. There was room to go 2.5 but I left it as is. I did go 3" from the intercooler to the throttle body however. I wish I had pics of the setup but I dont have any of the under side.

Cobb piping and TR8L or the new Threadstone kit are great options, its the same route as the PG but better quality and less couplers, and it works fine.. i see a lot of fabbing and customizing work over little difference in bats. but that's my opinion GL with the project

Honestly I would expect no difference in BATs because of it.

Shorter path to the FMIC though, so that's a benefit. Slightly less lag.

I had mine done, I originally had the turboxs kit and @HTP; took my piping and we reduced the length of the over all piping by 2.5 feet. I have verified proof that with this routing, I am able to spool about 3-500rpm quicker

This is the only way I would even consider a FMIC. I wants my quick spool.

Im running the original raceroots intercooler piping kit. I love the fact that my engine bay is cleaner without the piping flowing over it. I know they had a bad rep but if they are still around you can order it from them.

Yeah they dont make it any more looks like. Plus, banned from here means probably a no go for me.

I'm planning an underside hot pipe at the moment too. I was playing around with my Turbo yesterday and found a custom wastegate actuator bracket will have to be made up. The one on the BNR sits too close for the chunkier side of the inlet housing once the turbo is clocked upside down. GL with yours, keen to see how you go.

Since you seem to struggle with reading, or even looking at your own car, these kits are being run on gen1 and gen2 3's. The 6 has a lot more going on down there that makes it damn near impossible to route the piping underneath. I have looked at it with at least two 6 owners, to see if it is feasible, while looking at their cars. I suggest you go take a look underneath your car. Check HTPs website or FJ for pictures of how the piping is routed, compare to your car and report back.

yeah code monkey was nice enough to inform me about the space limitations, i can't look under my car because my engine and transmission are out so it wouldn't do me much good or i obviously would have

I've READ some vendors saying they were going to make one so i had assumed it was feasible and was just checking to see if any progress was made, so i guess that makes me struggle with reading right?

i wish i could have a good look under the car to see what its like under there because "damn near impossible" and actually impossible are very different...wanna be a doll and snap some pictures for me since i won't be able to get that view until spring or do you just want to continue to be a cunt, thanks bro!

i wish i could have a good look under the car to see what its like under there because "damn near impossible" and actually impossible are very different...wanna be a doll and snap some pictures for me since i won't be able to get that view until spring or do you just want to continue to be a cunt, thanks bro!
It's not impossible but I don't think any vendor would be willing to take the work it would be to make one for a limited market. You could spend the money and have a shop custom make you one I'm sure

Damn dude. You may think I've been a cunt, but I've been rather tame. Your posts lately have been lazy, lacking foresight, and without background information. Things you seem to show eventually after being flamed in your threads. You claim you like to start discussions, but your posts come off as uninformed and lazy like some many brownie posts in the past. 90% of the information you've been looking for has already been discussed at length with information readily available here. There is no point to repetitive discussions. If you have specific questions or ideas, present them with background information and knowledge, and discussions will be had.

I tried to be somewhat helpful in this post, since as I mentioned, you seem to be somewhat informed after the information is pulled out of you by others. Put more effort into your original posts, and you'll receive more help.

As for me taking pictures for you, fuck you. Do your own research asshole.

Lastly, to tag someone, type "@" "username" ";" you brownie faggot.

Personally I'm getting pretty tired of seeing your lame ass post. You do zero to no research. You come on this forum wanting everyone to spoon feed you to 700hp but yet you lack so much intellectually. I take that back you may be smart as hell but you lack forum etiquette.

Just like stated before, if you have a specific idea or question then by all means start a thread about but provide your scientific thoughts or something showing you have done at least SOME research.

I'm excited to see another person wanting to push another speed into the 700+ hp range but just wish you would provide data and scientific knowledge to your post vs "umm yea, hey guys what do you think about this old ass stand back", or "I like your injection setup how do I replicate it to a T so I don't have to put any thought into it".

I put plenty of thought into the injection setup by emailing jmf and asking them about my options for meth injection with the aux fuel set up they told me i would have to have the bungs on the underside and off centered which i was on the fence about. His bung setup was really clean and much better than the route i was considering due to their suggestions so i thought i would ask him some questions. its very clean, i don't see what is wrong with that, imitation the sincerest form of flattery... and i asked about his nozzles to see what he was doing, what is wrong with that i personally think am going to go with 4gph 5 seems like overkill based on the calculator...

you guys think i have done 0 research and make a lot of false assumptions, but i have, thats why i know that vendors said they were working on an option for the speed... sorry i didn't know it wasn't going to happen maybe i missed it, sorry i have no read every post on here and sorry if i miss some stuff and ask a dumb question , that is why i asked. you guys are ready to jump down my throat because i didn't know it wasn't happening, i just asked because from the forums i read i thought it was just a waiting game...perhaps it still could be, i know when i have my car put back together i will be looking for a way to make this happen. maybe its impossible maybe its not, i don't think i need IC piping more than 2.5 inches. i bet if there was a solution to this the 6 guys would be all about it right?

I'm going to try and meet you guys half way here and try to really be clear about my posts so you guys don't think I'm being lazy since this makes you all very mad and i guess i see your point though we just have different styles and perspectives on the matter, I'm not being lazy I'm being casual. I'm not trying to write a research paper every time i post, just shooting the shit about cars with people who have the same or a similar platform as i do.
