AP and ECU

So wasn't sure where to put this, so if its in the wrong spot, feel free to move it.

First off, well second really, this isn't me bashing Cobb or the AP, just throwing information out there.

I hadn't used my AP in about a month and half (car was running tits, didn't wanna change that). Anyways, the weather warmed up, car started boosting like crazy so I went and edited my map and tried putting it on the AP. It APPEARED the damn thing wasn't working!!! So great, figure it was the computer or something stupid with that. I take it down to the car and plug it in and its not that it won't boot up, just the screen is BARELY visable, like the contrast is set to the max...plus another 50. I decide then to uninstall the AP from the car for safety reasons since I couldn't change the map (won't talk to computer remember). I get to the point where its clearing the CEL's and has you turn the key off, wait 10 seconds, turn back on. Turn the key back on, and as I'm peering at the screen (in a parking garage, windows tinted 18% front tinted 35%, its dark as it is) I have my hands cupped around it and up to one eye to read it lol, it says ECU COMMs. Great!! Turn the key off, wait a lil bit, turn it back on, same thing.

Anyways the rest I did is moot at this point.

I would like to start this section by praising Gary and Dan at Cobb! They so far have been kick ass in the customer service dept.

Send a pm to Cobb on here, this was late mind you, 7:30ish MST, they're closed, already tried calling. Gary replies right away, and gives me a brief run down, I respond with answers, he then asks for my number and next thing I know Dan is calling me!!! Granted this close to 8 now, so 2 hours AFTER they closed up shop! I get shipping labels/info from Dan and just have to send my ECU to them. Dan said that he's never heard of them NOT being able to recover and fix a speed6 ECU, so I'm thinking great, this will get taken care of easy...ish.

Anyways, Dan calls me today. After my ECU was the whore of their shop/engineers going from one guy to the next (at least what Dan made it out to sound like) my ECU can't be recovered sad day!!!

Its not over yet, talked to the dealership later and am taking it up to them to get it looked at. Cobb is still going to take care of me under warranty.

All in all I have to say this is probably the most impressed I've been with any company on the customer service side of things that I was personally involved with and wanted everyone else to know.


On the downside tho, I've been forced into taking public transportation...lukily for me the light rail is 10 minutes walking distance from my place...and drops me off 10 minutes walk from work...during the day anyways. The night gig...well thats a 30 minute walk

Did you store the AP in your car or garage? It's usually heat that destroys displays like that. Likely the AP was damaged and didn't properly complete the stock flash back..

NO, left in my apt on the counter. The ac is on full and I never use the stove, so it wasn't heat. But yeah I knew about that from the get go hence why it wasn't in the car.
