Default Flat foot shifting damage?

I am loving flat foot shifting with my Cobb map, I feel it really speeds up progress when changing gear.

What I wanted to know is using FFS speeding up damage to my clutch or transmission?

I heard there was a possible issue with over boosting with FFS enabled, however that was a while ago and hopefully COBB sorted that.

As far as drivetrain damage: can't imagine it would be worse then smashing gears normally. With flat foot shifting you could (theoretically) be nicer on the gear box while not losing out on performance.

With an instant-spool K04 I can't imagine there would be much to gain with FFS. GTX28/30 on the other hand...

It is going to make a good difference regardless of your turbo.

Now brake boosting on the other hand, not really gonna benefit with the K04, other larger turbos you would.

I didn't think you could brake boost with the 2nd gens? I tried it once since I lost to a modded 335i that only won from him brake boosting, and it cut ALL boost from my car as soon as the brake was applied.

You can break boost on gen 2s I do it in my 2013. You have to apply the break first than gas or a safety feature kills the car also make sure traction control is completely off by holding it for a few seconds you shouldn't be able to turn it off until u shut the car off

If you're missing & grinding gears, you're causing damage. Checking that little box in a program doesn't change that.

All of you act like you need this shit enabled in order to do it...

I KNOW my 335i race would have been way closer had I been able to brake boost. He jumped like 2 cars on me immediately from brake boosting and then just held that lead the whole time. Someone get cobb's ass in here and explain why I have to lose to some rich shithead in a BMW because I can't brakeboost and he can!!!

Oh yeah well to all you 2010 fags, I can disable my SWAS by holding down the TC button and don't have to unplug anything so THERE! Lol

A switch for SWAS… that's a great idea.
FFS on a k04 apparently makes like .01 seconds difference per shift. I was talking to someone on here from NJ (or maybe it was CWP_MS3?) they said they did multiple runs with and without FFS with two Pu's and there was no difference.
Obviously on BT it could make a big difference.

Now OP's question, if you do it right, there shouldn't be a problem.
But you'll cut your clutch life in half of you do it everyday.

And Mega sore ass is right, you can FFS without a tune that has it.

@GODspeed7; I have a 2012 and my buddy has a 2011 and we brake boost all the time. You have to make sure you hit the brake pedal before you step on the gas and it works. If you hit the brake after you press the gas it doesn't work.

I've tried both. I've also tried at the exact same time, which result in me hitting the brake too hard and almost slamming myself into the steering wheel. lol

I'll try again on the way home today.

I always used to slam the brake, it takes some getting used to using your left foot on the break. I lightly apply pressure till I start slowing down then I mash the gas and apply more pressure on the brake depending on the speed I want to hold.

I have a 2010 and Brake Boosting is about the only thing we didn't get shafted on haha.

I Brake Boost, go on the second honk, and FFS when sushi rolling. If I am being a real dick, I will start in third.

The only problem I have is my wimpy ass horn that no one can hear.

Idk man seems like you are the ONLY one that has been able to brake boost a 2012. I'm not saying you're full of shit but I am skeptical... Lol

In all fairness to him, like I said, I've been able to get like 4psi. You could hear that it was definitely spooling, but I never floored it to see how much I could get out of it. Stock block, mad load, insta-spool turbo. I just didn't see it worth it to strain it on a ko4.

I left foot brake my Lincoln all the time. Practice on an automatic (where you don't need the left foot to operate the clutch), and you'll be good at it in no time.

This thread, this shit is comical haha. I has no issue with brake boosting! I also has a k04 which is worthless to brake boost. lol. Ran a buddy of mine who has the same mods but in a Pu. I brake boosted and we were almost matched. Then I ran him normally and had an almost identical run. But the pre-run spooling is what keeps me brake boosting. haha.

Ok I admit defeat. Light brake first, then gas (lots of it) I was able to hold 40mph and build 8-9psi before dropping the brake and hammering off. Instant wheel spin. Lol to all those that I doubted... I am sorry. @rfinkle2; don't think your out of the doghouse yet! Lol jk buddy!

I don't know if there is a difference between holding the brake first vs. the gas etc, but there was some sort of particular issue the 2010's do not experience.

I hope that the guys have it nailed down as to some sort of sequence there needs to be.

If you guys are right, your right... I have no problems admitting I am wrong.

Even if 2010 can brake boost, can all the 2012s at least be happy that we didn't get chicken pox dashboard and door handles? lol

I do like our gauge design better, but admit a lot of the rest is an upgrade. LOL.

I've actually found ffs shifting without using it in the ap will get you better times, the bump in rpm between shifts seems to help. I picked up .2 with the same mph, consistent launches, only changing from lifting to full throttle during shifts...

just tappa it in...

Back on track because interested; what are the down sides?

Possible tranny damage if grindage
Way faster clutch wear...

These two seem pretty big? I only ffs 2-4th when I'm racing someone that I know will be a solid race.
