Default CUMMING OUT OF THE CLOSET

Just brought this baby home. She's a 99 with leather, Bose and wood grain, I feel like Rick Ross. Oh and its got a luggage rack, talk about classy as fuck. I need to give it a good wash and an oil change and wipe down the interior with antiseptic wipes to get rid of residual semen stains. Got a black top on the way to replace the tan one that is torn, worn and stained, probably from all the ejaculations over the years. Don't mind the water bottle, ebrake is in mint condition and a water bottle isn't required to keep it stationary. When are we cruisin @Rokusek; @AtTheDriveIn; @Skatethesea;

@Ziggo; when are you joining the club

@Neverlift; see me on the streets

Default CUMMING OUT OF THE CLOSET

@Ziggo; you won't and that's a nice find, but you won't

I put on some red tail light overlays and removed the power antenna for a rubber whip (-5lbs) and a new headunit with Bluetooth so I no longer have to listen to the radio. Next up is a shifter rebuild kit, can't seem to find one that doesn't have parts that aren't back ordered. Got me some mazdaspeed motorsports mounts to put in before the next autox in May. I will probably need to inspect the brakes before hand because it feels like there might be some air in the lines and pads in the back could need some replacing

Before 2001 = no VVT = easier to boost.
Congrats on the NB. I miss mine.

NB1 being easier to boost than NB2 is kinda moot these days I think with the latest and greatest ECUs that support both the NB2 and VVT. NB2 would be my first choice for a car to boost.

It was just a little harder to tune with the VVT. The kit I had came with a chip for the stock ECU, but it was Stage 1 pulley for 2001+ only. I'm sure a Haltech with a good tune would take care of that.
Mine was a Z-Engineering kit from Germany (Now VF Engineering).

@Manny; If you want to know what parts I had, read my signature. IMO, you should be looking at performance shit instead of $500 trunks. Your shit is weak, and would need a lot more to pull of a nice a duckbill trunk without looking like clown.

Firstly, rollbar (removes the feminine appeal you have going on right now)
Secondly, suspension
3rd, wheels & tires
4th, You already have NB1 sideskirts, so get a proper front lip (GV rep, MSM, or NB2), and a MSM rear lip
5th, and probably most important, forced induction

That's how you pull off a $500 CF trunk Mr. Mudflap

@TonyTheBrown; fuck you

...that trunk isn't avail anymore anyways. I'm gonna get a set of fresh rotors and new pads first since my rears are looking somewhat scored. Gonna get a set of goodridge SS lines while i'm at it. I don't know if I should go with Hawk HP+ all around or go with HPS front and HP+ rear i've seen some people go with that due to the factory brake bias. I'm still up in the air regarding suspension. I already know you're gonna say monotube or go home. But I don't see many options that are around a grand not closer to 2 like most of the good options.

Yeah, Mike @ Autokonexion makes a version 2.5 now, it's pricey though. @Manny;

In regards to pads, I ran HPS and the fade was real on the MSM. My NA didn't go fast enough to warrant legit pads, and I never had fade. I would run HPS rear, and HP+ front personally. The HP+ on the rear never seem to come up to proper temp on my buddies cars, and they run HP+ up front as well.

For suspension, bilsteins & ground controls. You should be able to find MSM bilsteins or HD's used for pretty cheap. The OFS damping for them will work nicely for autox w/ 5k front, 3k rear. You could step up as high as 8k front, 5k rear on the stock valving, but the car will only be useful @ autox, nothing else.

The lower spring rates paired with a hollow fsb, and msm sized rear bar will be a nice compromise as the car will be used as a DD too. And personally, I like the lower spring rates as that translates to more body roll, which equals more camber gain. Once you figure out how to use that to your advantage, the car becomes a real joy to drive. On my R package Bilsteins w/ S drives, I had zero complaints. Aside from the fucked up alignment and the lack of being able to run as much negative camber as I needed to effectively use the contact patch I had. That's where the idea of GC's comes into play for you.

What are you thinking for wheels & tires? I am a big advocate of starting small & skinny, and as your confidence grows, stepping up to something wider & stickier. If you can't put your ego in check and you must have the widest stickiest tires right off the bat, you won't be able to find the limits of the car in a way you can learn from. Waxing the competition on smaller wheels & tires will really accelerate your learning curve. 205s are as wide as you should go, but I think 195 is enough tire at stock power.

I was thinking of some bilstein or koni race with gc sleeves as well and maybe some some ISC top hats if I go with a sleeve route i've seen quite a few different options. I do like how there is some room for more or less spring on the bilstein OTS rates. Is there a difference between MSM bilsteins and the HD's? I'm undecided on whether I wanna use more spring as opposed to going with a bigger bar which is what I did on the 3. I like the idea of being able to swap springs if I have to with bilstein. Only reason why i'm shying away from them is the lack of adjustment which is why other coils or shock setups are being considered.

Miata Suspension

As far as wheels/tires i'm thinking of the wheels below or some 15x8 kosei k1's which are now discontinued so they'll be hard to find but the advanti's are 11lbs making them the lighter wheels with the k1's weighing 14 and some change. As far as tires I probably won't get s-drives because I wanna see what is else is out there federal 595rsr are going for 350 shipped and probably offer better grip and I was content with the 595's I had. I'm down with something that isn't an extreme summer compound as long as the price is right. For example tirerack has some dunlop dz102 on special with 250 after a mail in rebate. Most reputable companies are gonna make a good tire unless its like sumimoto tires or federals lol even though I had some.

Might as well go with a complete ISC solution if you got the cash.

Now in regards to the difference between MSM Bilsteins & HD's can be seen here.

Here is a Koni dyno for good measure.

I can't help you with being able to read a shock dyno, but this video should help explain some of it. And what's going to be ideal for you...

So now you can make your own decision on which shock will be the best option for you.

Spec Miata Suspension Kit [Suspension Kit] - $1,600.00 : Advanced Autosports, Miata Race Parts, Spec Miata and TRANS AM Race Car Sales, Service, Build & Rentals Support in Midwest

These guys are offering this kit for $350 less if I don't get sway bars. They ship with 700lb front and i think around 350lb rear which is what they run on their spec miata cars. The tech said that They can order any eibach spring rate, if I chose to go softer I can still run the same HD's on stock valving. Now its a matter of finding a street rate for now and figuring out what length spring I want. I'm leaning towards 400lb/7k front and 250lb/4.5k rear. Those rates are used on the vmaxx sport kit. Its weird because all these guys are saying they use the same shocks and they are handling those 700+ lb springs. The main hurdle at this point is figuring out what lengths I want. $1250 is a decent price considering they come with a new set of shock mounts, bump stops and endlinks. But ISC suspension prices out to $1000 with no bump stops on what seems to be the same spec miata bilstein's with some springs that aren't eibach but you do get fancy aftermarket strut mounts to allow more bump travel. Advanced autosports tells me they are HD's which is what they all race on ISC tells me they are the spec miata shocks, nothing about specific models or anything. I'm going to assume they are the same but I hate to assume in this case.

@TonyTheBrown; what do you think?

I think you should go ISC, and spend that extra $250 on a proper revalve for 8/6k springs, and a much less aggressive rebound rate.

Default CUMMING OUT OF THE CLOSET

So I've replaced the clutch with a flyin miata happy meal level 1 clutch kit, replaced the rear main seal and put in some mazdaspeed competition mounts in along with a k&n cold air intake. Also got an oppurtunity to snag up some NB2 seats which are much more comfortable and have much better back support compared to NB1 seats. I just attended my first autox with the car this past Sunday and I have a lot to learn and need more seat time to play around with stuff like tire pressures to dial it in. I've been working with Cobb Tuning and I'm proud to say that I'm the worlds first Cobb tuned miata

Clutch wasn't hard at all I figured pulling the motor would've made it easier but that just created more work. At the very least I know how to take the car apart now. Figured the oil pan may need to be dropped to do the rear main seal but apparently that isn't the case. Everything went pretty smooth though. Just make sure you read up on how to align the PPF because it has to be aligned with a straight edge and has to be within a certain range otherwise your car will sound like a blender. In regards to the clutch install there are plenty of detailed how-to's out there that make it a relatively easy job.

Pulled the intake off and wrapped it in DEI heat reflective tape. Shoutout to my boy @papaspeed3; for the moral support. I'm gonna build an air box for it eventually

Wait..... what???? Cobb Tuned?

Nice job on the clutch, seemed a bit much to pull the motor since it's pretty simple on it's own, but whatever. No harm no foul eh?

Great car! Nice choice on the surfboard seats, too. Big improvement.
For street pads, I ran OE fronts and HP+ rears on my '99. Good combo. Did the same on a '94 later on, and will run the same on the '90 once I swap to the later brake setup.
PPF alignment shouldn't be too rough, since the transmission and diff both use two bolts for PPF placement.
If you're set on monotube dampers, consider used Tein Monoflex, or perhaps a Bilstein/Ground Control setup. The Billies will be more cost effective but will sacrifice damping adjustability.

I think I'm gonna go with some bilsteins and get some sort of sleeves. I'm unsure of the rates that I want and I don't know how to spec out the spring lengths in relation to the rates

Default CUMMING OUT OF THE CLOSET

so I pulled a @Neverlift; and drove my car off a cliff on a togue run. Replaced it with a 2001 LS. Previous owner put a brand new oem top on it last year. This ditzy blonde slut was given this car as a hand me down from her father and developed a knee problem because she spent too much time on her knees sucking dick. Car sat around for a year in the middle of bum fuck nowhere hickville so I got this one for less than I paid for the 99. Rear rotors are scored and there are some minor blemishes here and there and some rocker panel rust that needs to be fixed other than that this one is ready to go. I'm going to swap the trans and clutch from my old miata into this one eventually because getting into second is a little notchy and with 140k the stock clutch is probably on its last legs.

Yikes man. Looks like the miata didn't do to bad for going off a cliff, the new ones looks good though.

Default CUMMING OUT OF THE CLOSET

Got this on the way and I found some used NB bilsteins for 200 bucks. I'm gonna send the shocks out to get revalved for those springs.
