Default Upgrading A/C Compressor

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything so hopefully not bringing something up brought up before so here goes...

Have an 08 CX-7 that I sold to my mother forever back. Prior to selling the A/C compressor went out literally a couple thousand miles before the extended A/C warranty was up so a dealer replaced it. Well... the piece of junk is on its way out again so I'm going to replace it. Fortunately not locked up but something internally is very screwed up allowing the compressor to spin backwards once the clutch is disengaged during the cycling period.

I noticed in '09 they went to a traditional piston style compressor that is likely far more reliable and probably cools better to boot. I know I would have to change hoses and know that the condensers are the same so that particular hose would be fine. The suction hose I'm unsure of but I doubt anything changed on the vehicle side of it.

Basically I have only two questions, does anyone know if the later compressor is cycled differently from the early or even cycled at all and has anyone tried doing this before?

Thanks!
