Default Install Guide How To: License Plate Frame

We've had absolutely no requests to do a how to on this so we decided we'd help the community and wake people up to the one mod they are missing out on the most. The highly demanded Edge Autosport license plate frame.

We hope you enjoy this install guide and find it helpful when installing yours. As always, ask us if you have any questions during install, we're here to help!

Step 1: Locate the license plate area you will be working with. Usually, this is in the rear of the vehicle.

Step 2: Using the appropriate screwdriver, remove either screw by inserting the flat end into the slot on head of the screw and rotating. Remember, righty tighty lefty loosey. Turn counterclockwise to remove the screw. A flathead or standard screwdriver is used in this particular install.

Step 3: With the help of a friend, hold the license plate in place so that it doesn't fall down while removing the second screw. You don't want to scuff up the bumper paint. Remove the second screw. This is done in the same fashion as the first screw.

Step 4: When reinstalling the license plate with the new frame. Make sure the orientation is correct. You don't want to draw any attention from the local authorities or have any girls laugh at you when they find out your frame is upside down.

Step 5: Again, using the help of a friend, hold the license plate and frame in place and insert one of the screws in the place it was removed from. Now, use a clockwise movement from left to right to tighten down the screw. Don't tighten all the way! Allow for movement on the other side to line up the holes.

Step 6: With the other side slightly loose, insert the second screw into the other side and tighten down, remember, clockwise. Now you can fully tighten the other side down.

The end result should look like this. If it doesn't, trace your steps back to where you lost all hope, you might be going back to when you fell on your head as a child if you are having a hard time with this.

Cheers!!

No carbon fiber option? WTF?!

Also, what are the torque specs on those screws? So many good How To's, so few torque specs.

90 ftlbs I think. But it could be inlbs... Just know that our License plate frame warranty doesn't cover installer error.

Good luck!

I totally was looking for a "how to" to accomplish this task. Thank you for this nugget of knowledge. Can someone please now tell me which oil is best for my car? What about which lowering kit I can use to stance my ride? Thanks.

In all honesty this was awesome and gave me a good chuckle.

Thanks for clarifying the torque specs. I thought the bolts were torque to yield bolts and couldn't be re used.

Two days after I changed my last one, thieves at a trail head showed me how easy it was to remove it with a flat head, and steal the plate. They left the brand new chrome frame sitting on the bumper.

Get the tamper-proof screws!

I learned from experience that if you prove an officer wrong two times in a row, he will write you up for these plate frames covering 1/3 of your tabs. Would be nice if they were notched in the corners.

Cop: I pulled you over because you have no front license plate.
Me: Yes I do, go take another look. (Plate mounted on tow hook)
(Cop walks to front of car then turns around to come back to the window)
Cop: Your window tint on the back window's is to dark.
Me: Not according to the cop that pulled me over 3 month's ago for my front windows. I have a slip saying I'm legal with his badge number and phone number. You want it?
Cop: Yes, let me see it.
(Cop goes back to his car and comes back 5 minutes later)
Cop: Im not going to argue with another cop about tint. I don't like how your license plate frame covers your tabs though. (hands me "fix-it" ticket)

Yes but you have to look up the conversion chart online.

Be glad the plate frame covered the plate some cause you were getting a ticket that day mp matter what, and the next available option to the cop was your "busted tail light"...

They fit but could throw off the conversion from mph to kph...

I'm mainly concerned about the weight of this mod. Will it throw off the balance? I already have my car tuned for my wife's big titties and don't want to jeopardize that in any way, whatsoever.

I used a dremmel tool and notched out a section to fully expose my sticker. Will doing this result in an imbalance destroying the integrity of the frame? I don't want my plate falling off and cause a pile up behind me.
