2010Speed3 BNR Stage 3 Build

So after starting my purchases for my turbo swap all the way in October of 2012, I'm about to get everything installed this upcoming weekend. Main reason I went with the BNR is due to it's stock fitment and provides more than enough go for a daily driver/commuter.

I've already checked my parts list with @S-hendrix, who has installed practically all the same mods I've bought. You can say his car was my inspiration to go through with the entire build. Anywho, below is a list of all the items I've purchased over the past 5 months. Please let me know if you think I should consider something else before we get this ball rolling.

This will be a rather intense install day(s). I'd feel like a badass if we knock it out in a day. I can do it if we don't hit too many snags.

I'm thinking about setting up my laptop and broadcasting the install. Not that its that big of a deal but my laptop will be there playing music anyways so I could broadcast it to show progress throughout the day.

Good luck! It can be done. Turbo swap is easy. Its gonna be the inj seals and fmic that's gonna slow you down for sure.

So true. Putting the FMIC took me 3 hrs and the BNR only took a little over 2hrs. Granted the sun was full ablaze when i was working on the FMIC but nonetheless it was pissing me off. But i've already done everything that's going on before so as long as we don't run into any stripped studs or things like that we will knock this bitch out in a day.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to it. I don't think we'll be able to do seals and a few items we can hold off on for a bit.

Yes I will be doing E85 when I get back to Houston from my training(March 29th). There's no E85 currently where I'm at.

If you do valve cleaning, there's no reason not to install the seals, you do it while you are soaking the valves so there is no extra time involved, especially that we will have many hands to help.

Yeah of course if we do valve cleaning we will do the seals, but I was thinking of maybe holding off on the cleaning for a little. I'd like to do everything, but we'll have to see how long everything takes us. Lol I don't even know who all is going to be lending a hand! Are you gonna be there?

A couple things, the grimmspeed ebcs should come with hoses and instead of the eBay map plug in play a guy on here actually made a plug and play harness. I believe his name on here is JumpingJackson. I would link the thread, but I'm on my phone right now.

49.3k. Overdue for a cleaning. I think I might need a new clutch soon too. Haven't had issues with slipping, but I can just tell its not engaging as well.

It may be a good idea to have some extra exhaust studs and nuts just in case you strip a stud, you can get them from Edge. I will bring my unicorn MS6, this may be the last time I can fit folks in the back.

Yeah will be doing it this weekend! Switched my Denso Iridiums to NGKs. Ordered a set of exhaust studs and nuts too.

Got everything being replaced taken off. OEM DP was a pain in the ass to take off and I finally got to see if my cat was blown or my O2 sensor was messed up. Probably will be done today, but there's a slight chance we may go another day over. So excited to get everything on.

As Randy said, everything is on and running well. No major hiccups during the install. FREEK base map is spot on. I'm so excited to see what kind of power ill see.

Are new oil feed and oil return lines really necessary when installing a BNRS3?

I thought they were, so I got it. Once we realized how much of a pain in the ass it was, we decided to skip it.

I was contemplating a new oem oil return, because I saw mine had some rust when I installed dp.

BNR says it isn't necssary to replace the oil lines, but I'd like to know why if anyone really thinks it is.

Only issue with the entire install was the coolant hose rubbing against the exhaust manifold and leaking coolant.

After sitting at the Kozmic Motorsports (formerly SSP) for 6 or 7 hours, we also figured out that the banjo fitting that BNR sent me was one size too small and that the crush washers are getting crushed unevenly. I believe that either means the threads are drilled at an angle or the fitting is not right. We did not over tighten the banjo bolt or strip the threads. So now I'm waiting on BNR to send me another banjo fitting and new crush washers to see if it will fix it. Anybody have some thoughts or any experience with this sort of issue?

Definitely seen people used braided lines for coolant hose when doing BNR

I love it man. Freek tuned me and the car has great power. I'm about to go through with the E85 tune soon. I'm excited to see how much I can get out of my current setup.

Yup credit card over the phone is correct. If you send him shipping tracking info of the turbo for the core exchange, he won't charge you the extra $200. It's easier so he doesn't have to refund you money and you don't have to be short $200 for a bit.

Gotta be honest, I bought the Speed3 cause I wanted something fun to drive. Never really modded a car just drive them but I dont want to leave this one alone.
