Color me confused. Your current turbo spools fast as fuck, can easily produce more power than your block should be subjected to, and you've got a kick ass AEM V2 meth kit for alt fueling.

If you're going down that built motor path, it makes more sense. If you don't want to rely on meth for fuel, this makes a little bit of sense as you might eek out a bit more headroom. Otherwise,

I am the same way, I feel like he can make just as much power with what he has now since he going with a water meth kit.

I my self will be installing a 2871r granted it is no gtx turbo, but it will be a quick spooling turbo that will be good for dd and mountain runs, and I am going to be running a aem water meth kit along with e85 and that is going to be more then enough for me and to put a shit eating grin on my face.

To make more power on just 93 alone with the quick spooling characteristics of the gtx2867. Then throw meth/water in to keep things in check. I just want a little more top end and I think the GTX3067r will satisfy it without any negative effects to spool. This keeps me also from not being at the ragged edge of the turbo. I like headroom. and head in a room.

Mainly for more headroom and extra power on 93. The trip to get e85 is slightly more tedious each time I have to make a new trip for more.

Ragged edge of this turbo is 445whp according to Justin's build. That should be plenty of headroom for a stock block. Your 350 goal rapidly escalated to 400 and change.

Think clutch, injector seals, crankcase pressure issues, and you'll be stretching your IDC to the limit. If you're ready to tackle all of that and possibly build the motor, why the hell not.

I just don't want to see you ZZB man...

Guys, the 3067 isn't THAT much different than the 2867, it just uses a bigger turbine wheel. The comp wheel and cover are *the same*, the gains from running a 3067 will mainly be from improved VE from having a freer flowing and more efficient hotside not from an increase in cylinder pressure(assuming you run the same boost on both.)

Also I was taking a look at the focus st dynos between the gtx2867r and the gtx3067r and there was virtually zero difference in spool but yet the GTX3067r made like 30-40whp more. Actually even looks like it may even have spooled faster as it was making more power down low than the gtx2867r.

GTX2867r

GTX3067r

I think a lot of people are thinking you want to switch to a gtx3076 which is a far different turbo than the gtx3067. Do they make an ATP 3067 drop in kit for us? Haven't checked yet. Lol.

I looked at the numbers and imo you can surpass if not hit the same number with water meth and e. If you need me to help you out I will pick up your e for you when I make my runs.

Yes, but that's pump. No long trips to get e85. No meth containers to fill up. Also it spools up just as fast or faster and has more top end. Not sure I see a draw back here to justify keeping the GTX2867r.

Yeah I believe a lot of people in this thread misread it as a GTX3076R. This is the GTX3067R. Not wanting to give up the quick response, but the extra top end sounds nice!

Ryan what you need to think about is, what do you want the car to do, straight light speed, or twistie roads and dd, I think the turbo you have now is perfect and you can still get more power out of your turbo especially when you start going to meth, you will get more power out of that turbo.
That was me on my 3071. Not that it was hard...just different than the k04 i was use to. I made it work and dont regret the choice one bit. @guitarzan134; knows about it

Also subbed as i read 3076 instead of 3067.

You could really tell the "down side" of that BT in the rapid turns where RPMs drop near 3k in 3rd gear.

That said, you closed the gap pretty well on the more gentle curves. Certainly a Beast-driver mod Brent has there...

I don't think there was any real "pulling away" from you. It took several miles before you began to fall back much at all. On the skyway you would've slayed everyone...

After doing fine research I'm very confident in this turbos capability. Just waiting on @EdgeAutosport.com; so I can get this ordered. Gtx28 for cheap in the for sale section soon.

@atvfreek; shouldn't I be able to use the same base tune with this? I would expect the tune not to vary much other than maybe boost and wgdc? Tho I'm a nimrod with ATR.

Yup you can use the same base map. The wgdc will likely be different, but may be close

This is also getting worked on by a shop in Hickory, NC. Blue Ridge Motorsports. He will be making more of these and said he had no problems doing a group buy. Anyways.

I honestly dont know. I'm pretty sure a group buy is going to be setup. So it's going to be dependent on how many join in. @motherfnmonsta; Jon is wanting to facilitate it. I'm jusdt paying the up front costs to get this going. I'm done with it after that haha. I just know for a fact the owner of the shop building this wants to sell them and isn't opposed to having a group buy for a benefit in pricing to the buyers. Other than that I don't have figures right now.

If anything you'll be able to buy it right from the shops website once it's done.

Is that meth tank made out of aluminium?

The GT30 hotside will have advantages in terms of top end flow for sure. The compressor should be similar but you will have fewer losses on the exhaust end so you you will shift the torque band to the right meaning higher hp and slightly slower spool.

I like all the testing you're doing!

More info about the meth tanks will be in a later thread. Pricing, material, finished product, pictures, and hopefully a group buy pending if mods allow it or not.

Crossing fingers that this Friday will be the day I can start tuning/getting this thing tuned. Here's to hoping that @EdgeAutosport.com; can work some voodoo and get the turbo to the shop by Thursday.

Is there a spot on the meth tank for low level sensor? If not do you think you could ask them if they would weld one in for the group buy?

Yes there is a spot. In fact the tank once in production will include a bung and a screw in low level sensor. At least that is what I was conveyed by the owner of the shop building it.

Conductive Fluid Level Sensor and Flying Lead Connector

I'm fairly certain it's that one the owner selected. That's the one I selected for mine and what he suggested since it is "screw-in". The meth tank isn't just going to be a tank. It's a solution that's going to be completely bolt-on and go. He's still R&D'ing how he wants to do the pump at this point. Trust me. I'm giddy as hell. As soon as I have pics I'll struggle like crazy to get them from my cell phone to this thread.

If it has more than one flange option, then possibly.

@kashbringer; keep an eye on this turbo.

i'm not here to be a buzz kill, but a devils advocate more or less, because i made the same argument when the 2867 first came out. Price. We're talking maybe 100-200 rpm spool difference, but about 50 whp difference between a GTx2867 and GTx3071. Assuming you were on a built motor would you have still gotten the 3067?

It sounds awesome, and looks awesome, but I'm dug hard in old ways it seems after loving my 3071 so much, just hard to imagine a "smaller" turbo out performing it... Very interested to see results from this turbo though. If its got capabilities of hitting 450 or so without being on the ragged edge, it could be pretty damn slick

I highly doubt the GTX3067R is going to out perform the larger compressor housing and larger wheel of the GTX3071R.

However, if it's within 10-15whp of the GTX3071R on pump without sacrificing spool in gears 1 to 3 over the GTX2867R it would be golden. I doubt I'll ever build the engine so going too big is a primary concern. Also, someone needs to try it out right?

my 3576 on pump made just shy of 400, but the downside was daily driving, it just never had the same spunk as my 3071... you my friend are between a rock and a hard place haha, but i think you picked an awesome turbo nonetheless.
