Battery Tray
 
Sick of having no space under the hood and want to show off that "big" pipe of yours....Here ya go, our "small" battery tray. Really there's nothing small about it. We utilize a full size battery that has nearly the CCA of the stock battery and is available cheaply everywhere. Pictures with our 3", 3.5", & 4" inlets forthcoming....

sweet. If you dont mind could you post a little more info on size, ect. Also will consider making more trays to fit small profile batteries like odyssey, braille, ect?

We actually already made those, about 2 years ago. We never released them because of reliability issues during cold weather or if your car sits days at a time without a trickle charger on them. The small batteries last just fine if you attend to them constantly. The sprint car team we fabricate parts for has been using the same ones for the last 5 years.

The battery is a group 51R. We have used these very successfully in the past in products we made for DSM's.

We are thinking of a retail at $159.00 (battery not included). Introductory price will be discounted. We were able to pick up these batteries at our local battery supply house for around $45. Pricing will be confirmed with the official release next week.

Our prototypes that we made 2 years ago and still running today have had the ecu grounded.

Dumb question but for Gen1's and 2's?

Only reason I ask is to start taking out the stock battery ducting... haha

so they WILL fit a stock size battery. You say SMALL tray, but say a NEAR OEM size battery. Care to explain the dimensions of the max size battery that can be used.

If we can get a MS6 in the shop to test fit then we'll have a product about 2 weeks later.
Matt, I may have an ms6 you can get measurements and what not off of..... I can talk to you more about it on the 22nd when I drop the 3 off

What's the x-tra cost on the PC as well?

Looks great HTP. Thanks for putting out some great stuff for the Mazdaspeeds thus far.

I can't wait to be able to work on some parts of my car without having to remove the battery box. :flowers1:

Oh sorry @rfinkle2 I was late on the heads up to you. I was being selfish with my own needs.

@pzr2874 They will come in black wrinkle powdercoat unless you request it to be left bare


I am intrigued by it being grounded, but if you have been running it this way @HTP then I guess its good to go.

I have been running it this way pc'ed since november and the guy who had it before me @jwilkins88 had it for about 8 months on his car. Neither of us have had any issues with grounding

Btw make sure you get a battery that the poles are on the correct side..... It will help a lot lol

This tray is designed for the group 51r battery. I believe optima only offers it in a yellow top referred to as a D51R.
