Default Focus ST prepared by ford racing ?

I'm curious if someone have heard about this ? We have someone here that just bought it's ST and claim he got it modded by ford racing usa and he get 350 crank hp with full warranty? (no dyno sheet but this what Ford suppose to have told to him)

When i check the website, i can see intake/exaust upgrade and tune but their is no specific power stated.

I not arguing against possibility to bring a 2lT above 350hp but i'm sceptic that it could be ordered like that with warranty...
Compared to MZR 2.3t with a sligtly larger turbo, it is hard to reach 350hp with just ordinary bolt on without replacing the k04 so i would expect it is harder on a 2.0l with a smaller turbo and going there will significantly reduce the engine life.

I don't want to debate but just hear your opinion about it to know if what the guy say is peace of crap or if it could be right...

Driving the 2014 Shelby Focus ST - Autoweek

Shelby ST. This is laugh-worthy....$15,000 upgrade on top of regular ST bringing the grand total to $38,000....only adds 25 hp???? Only 500 available for the dumbest muthafuckas in the United States.

When my brother was looking at focus sts, one dealer had a focus they said "would blow the doors off any Mazdaspeed3". The dealer didn't claim 350 hp More like 275 at the wheels. The sticker wsd listed as the Ford performance package and included a racing stripe, intake/exhaust, and ford racing programmer. Sticker price was like 32k

This is the FRPP performance pack:

2013-2014 FOCUS ST FORD RACING POWER UPGRADE PACKAGE -- M-FR1-FST

You will get 245-260whp and around 325-340 wtq depending on ambient temperatures.

What the guy say is peace of crap, if those are my only 2 options. Or has no idea how to read a dyno graph if we were to use an option of my own.

Probably wouldn't need a thread for that option though.

Can't some of you guys tune those numbers with literally just E85?

Those are definitely achievable without the intake and definitely with e85

Thanks for the info, even if the 350hp was said crank hp (not whp) i knew it was not possible. When i see the ford racing dyno graph, i bet he probably mixed hp and torque at the crank. But i don't worry, it's a salesman so saying crap is it's everyday jobs lol
So the ST is close to what i was thinking, a 2.3MZR little brother...smaller displacement and smaller turbo cannot reach higher numbers without BT.

BTW the Ford bolts on claim 48 hp gains but at the graph, it seem to be close to 0 gain at peak hp bandwidith like if the tune mostly remove the torque steer limiter at loweer rpm. (Maxi HP seems to remain the same) Is the huge torque upgrade alone make it faster? or it would just feel faster with more wheelspin?

So then the wheel spin is controlled by an electronic differential, which applies the brakes going forward, and on the rear wheels to pitch the car when cornering. Certainly something a person of moderate understanding could achieve quicker and more efficiently in a MS3 w/ a mechanical differential. How does that system respond to BBK's? Can you do any proportioning of the brakes?

This was on a virtual dyno at a very cold time of year. The numbers latter on an actual dyno (on page 11) was 240 HP (at 4500rpm) and 336 TQ (which was at 2700 rpm and fell off fast after that). With E85 mix.

That number seems odd. COBB got 222/275 on 87 octane and 241/276 on 93 octane stock.

The actual dyno numbers were on a mustang dyno. Most people use dynojet. Dynojet is very close to virtual dyno output in dynojet mode.

I believe they may have changed their dyno output calibration since their numbers are much more in line with a dynojet.

Typically gains are measured at Peak, but thats not always the case when advertising. When the Boss manifold became available for the coyote 5.0, they were advertising it as 60 whp gains over the stock manifold. Well, thats because they were revving to 7500 rpms, and the stock manifold starts dropping at 6700, whereas the boss flatlines around 7000 and holds. So yes, the car "is making 60 more whp," but only because it was losing so much to begin with. I imagine thats where the 48 hp gain is coming from, not peak gains, but likely somewhere in the curve.

Also, Ford racing offers a 525 hp (crank) supercharger package for the 5.0 that maintains a separate 3 year / 36k mile warranty through Ford racing, so its not unbelieveable the ST could have a similar package.

Ford tune scares me it pushes the turbo pretty far to its limit. I believe its 25psi.

psi is not the main point when the exaust is still blocked by catalitic converter. everything is about more flow. 25psi may be more dangerous to the rods if their is more chance to knock but i may be wrong too.

Easy to check, just look at what they are getting on other cars. I haven't noticed any particular out-of -normal ranges but I haven't looked for them either. Their data base is huge.

If a St owner wants 350hp out of a stock turbo they shouldn't buy the car. Go buy a mustang.

It's easy, dummies. Simply hook in a meth kit, 5th injector, good tune, and weld on a JATO rocket. Nothing to it. I have to explain everything.
