I would really like to see a roll race between a stock ST and MS3 so that all of the paper racing can be put to rest. Of course a modded MS3 can beat a stock ST, but I think stock it would be a close race. I have ridden in my friend's stock ST and the thing pulls hard. I would be curious to see what happens after about 100 MPH or so as I think that is where the MS3 might start walking away.

I just looked at a few dyno videos of a stock ms3 and ST and they look pretty close. Plus the ST does weigh a bit less so I think it would be an interesting race. I do think the MS3 would start to pull after about 100 MPH though, although by how much I am not sure.

In a Mazda Mexico Track day i Tested my MS3 vs my brother's new ST. First i tested my fully bolted stage 2 MS3 2010(CPE SRI, TIP, CATBACK DOWNPIPE FP INTERNALS, and ETS TMIC with 91 octane COBB OTS MAP) vs my brother's stock ST. Obviously I won, but the race was close. In a 1/4 mile he won vs all stock MS3. (The track was at 2300 meters of altitude). In the track, the ST was superb, my brother is a good driver wth only 25 years old, but he was matching VS Big turbo MS3 in bends, and passing all stage 2 MS3 except me.


Now I decided to sell my MS3 and I'm considering buying the ST. MS3 owner's in México City sent many emails to Mazda Mexico to tell them the problem with MS3 at high altitudes and also Mazda USA knows it but they didn't do anything.

I sold all my parts and then raced again vs my brother, only to see that my car was so slow. Maybe the MS3 is better in sea level cities, but the ST is a lot better in high altitude cities.

Mazda reduces the power drastically at higher altitudes to prevent the turbo from overspinning in the stock calibration and you need to have a proper tune for it to work well. Has anyone dynoed an ST at higher altitude?

I live in New Mexico at high elevation and i have a 2013 speed3 and my brother just bought a 2013 focus st. you can bet the fist time we met up what happened haha. Both cars are completely stock

The races were back and fourth his tires are kinda worn out because he bought it used. From a 20 roll i pulled by about 1.5 cars but from 30 it was close he won 2 races by about a half car and i won 2, 1 by about a half car and the other by just about a bumper all races were up to about 90. I

think my top end is slightly better but with his gears being so long until i actually get to around 100 i think is where i would pull harder close race i say its basically a drivers race. I would like to race him from a high roll and see who's top end is better the time will come soon im sure

Above about 90 and stock, the MS3 walks the ST pretty easily.

Haven't raced but you can see how the ST tails off after 90 in this R&T test under performance in the middle of the pdf...

ST is great for where it is designed to run and getting the most out of it's hardware is a testament to Ford's engineering but the use of the K03 catches up eventually.

The unknown is how elevation is going to effect you. The ST and MS3 are turned very differently (ST is load based). How that effects the end result....LET US KNOW!

No real idea. If the Ford has enough headspace to make it's target torque loads, it will do well. But from what I've seen, ford has cut most of the ST's design pretty close to the bone. Once again....LET US KNOW!

lucky .. so what i don't understand is how are these guys getting those times stock and ever magazine or show shows them as about 14.5-14.6 cars that time is way off!
