New Lincoln MKC Ecoboost 2.3

So, it looks like the new EcoBoost 2.3L will hav 275bhp/300lb-ft when it hits the market in the Lincoln MKC. It's interesting that the outputs are so close to the 2.0, and the MZR DISI. It'll be interesting to see how different the design is from the DISI.

That's a lot lower output than I would have expected. It'll be interesting to see if output changes much in other applications, because right now it's kind of disappointing.

I tend to agree. 275/300 sounds like it's been set up to be a direct competitor for Cadillac's 2.0T (272/260) rather than an out-and-out performance motor. Given that the Focus ST is already somewhat underrated from the showroom, in order to actually differentiate between the two motors, FoMoCo is going to have to do something to crank up the output.

I mean, I've seen a fair number of dyno charts that are in the ~235-245whp/~260-270wtq range, stock. That equates to around 265-275bhp/290-305lb-ft at the crank. Assuming this "ricer-math is accurate, the 2.3 will have to produce a lot more than that if it's going to be in the Mustang and in the ST versions of larger cars like the Fusion.

Basically if we assume a 5%-9% understatement from Ford, like it's done with the 2.0 ST engine, that works out to about ~290-300whp/~315-325wtq for the 2.3 I'd be OK with those outputs as a starting point.
