Stratified Electronic Boost Control Solenoid (EBCS)

A lot of people break the stock 2 port solenoid or need a 3 port when installing a big turbo.

Boost control falls right into the Stratified area of expertise so I've been designing a solution that is plug and play and less expensive than the competition but works very well and that is key.

With the idea of saving the customer money I have been looking at mounting solutions:

1. One is the traditional bracket and bolts. This is done by everyone else and it adds cost, complexity, and the need to drill holes.

2. Another method for mounting is using an adhesive. The adhesive is strong and withstands engine bay heat and it is easily removed without residue. There is no need to drill any holes so things are kept clean.

However the solenoid must be placed on a flat plastic piece in the engine bay (vertically or horizontally). Lots of spaces to do this like the side of the battery tray. The downside is that when removed, the adhesive needs to be replaced/reapplied.

So the question is:

Do you prefer the traditional mounting bracket with bolts or is a much less expensive one time adhesive acceptable?

I voted for a bracket, but realistically an adhesive would probably be better. especially for those when they sell the car, and want to stock out to a completely unmolested status.

this interests me since BNRS3 deletes the EBCS mount point, that i wouldve liked to use.

I found mounting in the stock location to be easy, fast and reliable. The bracket itself was simple in design, quick to create/manufacture, and has room for profit while adding only minimally to overall cost.

An adhesive based mounting solution leaves me wondering how it would fare after 2-3 years worth of temp variations- countless heat cycles and freezing or sub-freezing nights would take their toll on any sticky substance.

I voted for mount.

It will not have an L shaped bracket for the stock mount location. Most people will be purchasing these for big turbo setups so the bracket will have to be more generic.

The velcro idea is good - I have had mixed results with it and I will be looking at the specs of what 3M has to offer. The adhesive I have been using (also 3M) is really excellent. It offers a vibration cushion, it is automotive spec, and all electronics in my engine bay including the GA and Meth controller are fastened this way. They haven't come loose over several years and are easy to take off if need be. Only catch is that the surface has to be clean and free of that black polish stuff.

I use that shit to hold stuff all over, in my engine bay.

It's tough stuff, and, the adhesive doesn't degrade from the heat over time like the Velcro/Dual Lock does.

Evaluating all mounting solutions. I think you will all be very pleased with the final outcome. Been running this solenoid in 2 port (OEM mode) on the K04 and it has improved boost characteristics due to the higher flow of the valve versus OEM.

Bracket. I'm not sure you'll find an adhesive that can handle the heat and movement in the engine bay.
