Default Tuned by One of the Best!

Took a while but last month I finally decided to get a stratified tune after not liking my modified stage 2 OTS map. Didn't order anything special here just a plain old (sewage water) 91 tune. I'm planning on ordering an E30 tune sometime in the future.

Tune Request
I asked for a safe but aggressive map for daily driving with occasional autocross and drag strip days.

Process
The process was easy. I took a few logs, sent them over to Lex then he had a map revisions back to me within 1-2 days. This whole thing was a breeze and Lex was very helpful with any questions or concerns I had.

Issues while tuning and solutions
There were 2 issues we ran into.
  1. First and foremost was Costco 91 gas. The reason this was an issue was because we hit the knock limit very quickly. It was not till I experimented with another brand midway through my tune that I realized that Costco 91 was causing premature knock.
On a whim I decided to try 76 after Lex sent me a revision I really liked but had knock in the 3+ range on Costco 91. When I switched over the knock dropped drastically. It went from the 3 range to not even hitting 1. On my last high heat log (2nd-3rd-4th WOT run) it maxed out at .98. Costco was fine on my OTS map that is why I've always used it but as soon as Lex started turning up boost and timing we started seeing knock.

  2. Second issue was boost spike. Our K04’s spool fast and the stock equipment seemed to have a hard time keeping up. I did see some quick boost spikes up to 24psi on early revisions of my maps. Lex spotted the issue and quickly started tweaking to reduce the spike as much as possible. It took a few revisions but my spike is now at a safer 21.5 psi. I do still see the occasional 22 psi when I’m driving really aggressive so I’m planning on ordering a stratified 3port EBC and top up map to put an end this issue once and for all.

Results
91 is a limited gas but Alex did a great job of getting every single bit out of it while maintaining low knock levels and great power. These logs were taken on the same day. A total of 10 logs were taken, 5 for each map. Number in each log were consistent with their tune. All logs were within the same BAT levels. Logs from the VD are attached to this thread for those that are curious.

OTS power levels were between 285-290 WHP 320-330 WTQ. Stratified power levels were between 295-300 WHP 335-345 WTQ. Stratified delivered more power throughout the entire curve (obviously).

Thoughts and conclusion
I could not be happier with my tune. Compared to the OTS map this load based tune is as smooth as butter. I can feel that this tune was designed around my car. From day one the OTS map never felt right to me. Day to day it would feel different, some days it would seem powerful and responsive then the next it would act weak and bipolar. The OTS was also not tuned for a hybrid valve so it would pop a lot while changing gears. This stratified tune feels right, every time I drive it just delivers. There's obviously more power but the way it handles and puts it down is just refreshing.

I want to thank @Lex; for this great tune. If some of you are still on the fence for a stratified tune I advise you just pull the trigger and buy it, not just for the power but the knowledge that this tune was designed for your car to run at its best.

Can't go wrong with stratified, I've been running a tune from them for bout a year now. I just got a retune and I fell in love with the car all over again.
