(Thread Starter) | Neutral : +4 score This tutorial can be followed for both the Gen 1 MS3, Gen 2 MS3, and also the MS6. If you upgrade to a larger than stock MAF housing you will have to scale the entire maf curve before performing your MAF Calibrations as the larger cross section allows for more airflow with less cooling to the MAF resistors due to the decrease in air velocity. If you have a larger than stock intake, you will develop a scalar first and THEN follow this tutorial. If you have a stock sized aftermarket intake, skip right to the videos. In order to develop a scalar for a larger than stock intake diameter, you must take the (New MAF Cross-Sectional Area) and divide (/) it by the (Stock MAF Cross Sectional Area). __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______ You already know the cross section of the MAF housing is a circle and the area of a circle can is derived as (pi*r^2). Another derivation of this formula is (pi*d^2)/(4). When deviding the two cross sections, pi and all other constants will cancel. Therefor, all you need to do is take the square of the new MAF Diameter and divided it by the square of the stock MAF diameter. Simple as that. Example Scalar: You decide to upgrade to a 3" intake (76.2mm). The stock MAF housing is 66.5mm diamter (2.61811"). You can either convert millimeters to inches or inches to millimeters, the choice is yours. (76.2^2) / (66.5^2) = 1.313 Take 1.313 and multiply it by the entire MAF curve. Now you are ready to start your MAF Calibration. This is ONLY for vehicles with a larger than stock intake installed. This is only an example for a 3" intake. __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______ ***Please be careful when performing WOT (Wide Open Throttle) logs. You will be breaking the law because of the speeds you will be accelerating to in 4th gear. Make sure your tires are in good condition, have adequite pressure, and that your car is aligned properly. Anything can go wrong at over 100 MPH and extra caution must be taken when logging these pulls. You are at your own risk when performing WOT logs and you must take every precaution before starting. For best results, watch in 720p HD and full screen and in the order they are placed. You can also download the zipfile to keep them on your computer and watch offline. Also i apologize for constantly coughing. I was still getting over having a sore throat from a cold. If you would like to know how i mounted my AP, you can visit this thread...
