Made some nit-picky corrections, nub.

AZSPEED3 02-03-2012 06:45 PM

Great write up @Bucker. Should be a sticky. Cheat sheet for ATR and straight to the point.

SLOWHATCH 02-03-2012 07:14 PM

Very well written sir. Downloaded and did a quick read. Very easy to understand. Will take a look at the corrected one as well. Thank you for your hard work @Bucker

eb2292 02-03-2012 07:39 PM

Great cheat sheet! Thanks!

A few hours of searching compiled into one easy to read doc

symkaz 02-03-2012 09:15 PM

Thanks Bucker.

Jake5713 02-03-2012 09:17 PM

On phone Bucker but subbed for future reading.
Bump for a great guy looking forward to the write up

Jake_MS3 02-03-2012 09:22 PM

Thanks man! Will read in the morning when I'm not dead ass tired.

GLORIFIEDBOZO 02-03-2012 09:25 PM

Thanks bro

bigriver 02-03-2012 09:39 PM

Very kind of you to do this Bucker!

I have no clue what it all means, yet, but I'm learning.

Thanks!

Bucker 02-03-2012 10:02 PM

OP Updated.

Jake_MS3 02-04-2012 05:56 AM

Just got the chance to read through it this morning. Well done sir! Screen shots of the tables are a big help too. Thanks again for doing this. Definitely needs to be made a sticky.

Dam this is nice makes it to the point where even I understand it... I bet the guy tuning me dsnt need this shyt thou.... In fact he could probably write all this himself...

SEE WHAT I DID THERE

MS3-a(sore)ASS-rex 02-04-2012 08:19 AM

Holy shit, you simplified the help file so that most normal humans may actually understand it now. Good shit Buck! Thanks!!

TiGraySpeed6 02-04-2012 09:07 AM

Off to load a newly refined map :)

Thanks for the great notes! Am especially grateful for the KR settings!

Makes a great followup (addition?) to abilors guide, and between the two a guy could end up with a reasonably respectable tune!

BigRedSpecial 02-04-2012 09:21 AM

Thanks for this! Just installed ATR yesterday and kind of lost with it.

3dpilot 02-05-2012 12:01 AM

Sweet!!!! Thanks bucker

Yanahdi 02-06-2012 11:51 AM

thanks for this bucker. You and Abilor got this shit nailed down for the newbs like me.

wankular 02-06-2012 12:38 PM

Thanks man. I don't even have an AP yet but I have a whole binder of shit to read.

Yeah same thing I did to learn about ATR, I have probably 2-3 binders, lol. You going with the AP now. Will love it man.

Proshop 02-15-2012 10:50 AM

Great read and info!!!! Thanks for the guide Bucker. Now I just gotta get over the fear of messing shit up and start changing stuff.

ahfunaki 02-15-2012 04:05 PM

Thank you!

Eric28243 02-15-2012 06:28 PM

I realize my thanks is just a drop in the bucket. Why I remember when we were both noobs back in the day. Ahhh... mammaries.

Schmitty5 02-17-2012 01:28 AM

Hell yea. This should be the 2nd thing one reads after Abilor's guide.

Thanks Bucker

TiGraySpeed6 02-17-2012 07:04 AM

in the order they should be read:
1) ATR Help File- Initial tuning guide & the two addendum's
2) Abilors Tuning Guide (still hoping for an update...)
3) Buckners ATR Cheat Sheet

With the above reference material, some study time & some common sense any fool can make an acceptable, decently performing and safe daily driver map.

You'll note that I said "map", not "tune".

I believe there is a vast difference between the results you get from safe acceptable norms and the custom, fine tuned specifically for you custom tunes from the local e-tuners on MSF.

AFAIK, this is the list (compliments of @rfinkle2 sig)

If you need a tune, contact DIZZYTUNING (Phate or Bucker), FREEKTUNES (atvfreek) or the PERM TEAM (Djuosnteisn, Dano, Lex or Socks), in no particular order

rfinkle2 02-17-2012 07:21 AM

Good stuff as always Bucker.

It is cool to see the ways different people manipulate the tables to get results.

One differences to note since Abilor's guide was written:

-wgdc table values seen in the wgdc table are now what the ecu will use
(much thanks to Dano for his 2x+10 formula, but it is no longer needed)

Nataphen 03-04-2012 08:31 AM

It's interesting how similarly I set some things up, but one thing that I've been sticking with for a while on the cars I tune is a boost biased hybrid tune because of erratic WG behavior. Has anyone been having this problem lately with neutered load tables? I would love to just zero out that stuff from now on for the ease of tuning if nothing else. That would knock out a few steps, but I literally had a guy hitting 22psi, 17psi, 19psi, then trailing off to 15psi before 6500 when I had all the load error tables neutered. @rfinkle2 is actually the one that suggested to try a hybrid tune to fix it, and it works well, it's just a little more work.

EDIT: great job BTW @Bucker! I meant to say that first, but my brain was going faster than my fingers, LOL.

rfinkle2 03-04-2012 08:37 AM

Nataphen, I was having similar issues (cranky wgdc) and Atvfreek, Fobio and Bluestreak convinced me to stop fighting the factory logic, and hybrid tune.

Since using a combo of all / most of the available tables, I haven't had a single issue with wgdc not acting as expected.

It takes a bit more time, but you'll be less likely to get a map back this way when weather changes, imo.

Lol, thanks.

I have, in the past, done some hybrid stuff but I have found that I can get tons of consistency from tunes done in a similar fashion to what I posted here. I don't encounter any significant over boost situations (MAX 1-1.5 PSI over boost with environmental changes) and those are easily adjusted for down the road. This is just me though, clearly everyone has their own methods. etc.

Nataphen 03-04-2012 08:47 AM

The way that I set it up now is load x gear tables ~.2 above logged load, 10% of OEM LEC, zeroed load dynamics, and a less aggressive BEC than recommended here. I stay right on my boost targets, but I was just hoping that Cobb may have given the boost tables more control by now. Another thing that is also load based is the throttle close control. You had mentioned how ineffective it was, but adding some load control back in will keep it from being quite so lazy.

The main thing that I think is funny about your tuning and mine, Buck, is timing. I also set timing tables in a knock, knock+2=no knock, knock+4=max fashion. Many people set them all the same.

mxmissile 03-05-2012 01:47 PM

Just thinking about how much I have to learn here makes my brain hurt. Thanks for the cheat sheet - it'll reduce the migraine count, lol.

I am concerned most about the air temps. When it's ~120*F outside @ ~7% relative humidity and you have a stock TMIC; well...

Mistersix 03-05-2012 07:30 PM

Awesome! More reading material about ATR. Thanks so much Bucker. I like having a peek into the logic of those who understand, (atr), more clearly. Definitely reading this tonite.

Mistersix 03-05-2012 07:37 PM

@Bucker Can i plug in your LTFT learing zones on my maf cal? Will i have to re-do my maf cal to those value?

Sorry a lil off topic.

Yeah, just plug them in. Your old MAF cal should be damn close, but I would dial it in a bit more.

Mistersix 03-05-2012 07:53 PM

Right on.

Ya my maf cal needs a little rub down. A little lotion and candles if ya know what i mean, wink, wink.

Same here!

I have done a lot of reading and these were all changes I was looking to make and will now go see how they work out :D

Thanks!!!
