Of course its going to cause problems, but if you take a lot of time and work at it you can make it work. I'm talking front fender well work, rear roll and pull, grinding rear bumper tab and stiff suspension and not a lot of weight in your car. Good luck.

255's will require a 3mm-5mm spacer to clear front struts and you would need to pull and roll the rears.

Go with 245/40s...no spacers, no pulling, just a roll.

225s on a 9.5 wheel is one hell of a stretch. I would run at least 245.

I am looking to pick up a set of wheels and tires and could use some advise/help. I am looking to pick up a set of 17x8.5 or 17x9 Enkei RPF1s. I know nothing about filliment and all that shit and was wondering if I could get some advise about what I would have to do to make them fit, spacers, fender rolling, all that jazz? I have stock suspension right now and I want to eventually put on some aftermarket coilovers and looking at BC Racing BR Type coilovers. I would prefer to stay away from rolling and all that as much as possible but if its a must I can do that. I don't want any rub. All advise will be appreciated!

I think that people are missing the point of this thread.

This thread I where you come to learn about wheels and fitment. You use this thread as a jumping off point.

This thread is not for asking "will ______ wheels fit on my car?"

Just my opinion.

This is the best fitment calculator that I have used, and I know this link has been posted in here before. Use it.

this is called the "will they fit" thread. this is where you ask questions so the forum doesnt have 5 new threads per week asking if a set of wheels will fit. there are some people on here who have the experience to make fitting aggressive setups a lot easier. i wish i had this back when i was trying to fit up my wheels with my suspension and keeping everything from rubbing.

QFT. We definitely dont need 5 new threads everyday asking if a wheel will fit. Just some of the posts that i read in here its like they didnt even read the op or the links that were provided

Edit: Maybe im just to critical? 0_o

i agree most are brownie questions, ill give you that much. but id rather have this thread with the people willing to answer stupid questions that they once had than flaming. fitment isnt as easy as buying an intake or dp MADE JUST FOR our car and look how many stupid threads we get about "which intake is the best" and "how do i get my dp on"...

the biggest thing that makes me mad is people not doing their research ahead of time. a couple searches on here + google + willtheyfit.com and you can figure out 80%

This is true as well.

The more I think about it this is probably the only "ultimate guide" thread that lends itself to asking questions like some of these people do. Because like you said there isn't a wheel tire setup made specifically for our car (other than stock obviously).

Hey guys, hopefully I didn't miss a post that answered my question but I did my best to read through all the pages...but I was wondering...

I am currently running 18x7 +45 w/ 235's on stock suspension with absolutely no issues (I don't wan't to hear 235's are too big for a 7 inch rim) and I just got my coilovers delivered, and before I start the install, I just wanted an opinion on how much (if any) of a fender roll I will need. Fenders have not been touched in any way shape or form and I am NOT interested in slamming the car, just a minor drop.

Thanks guys for your help, hopefully this isn't to dumb of a question

Being the "Ultimate Guide" I was hoping to at least see people posting more fitments that work. I see lots of questions and partial answers.

I like to do my own research and I love the tools linked in the beginning, but I think it would be nice to have a list of some of the most common fitments that work. Or at least when people choose to answer give a complete answer. i.e 245/40/18 + 45.

the problem is just that, your definition of a working tire/tim combo may not be mine. mine works right now as long as i dont haul more than three people or have a lot of weight in the back. thats good enough for me, not for everyone. so i cannot give you every tire/wheel combination that works, but if you give me complete specs of the wheel/tire combo and suspension setup we can help you out a lot. that being said. do you actually have a question?

I see your point.

I do a lot of autocross and I am trying to find the widest I can go without having to roll my fenders. I plan to only drop the car about 1"-1.5" front and rear. I seen a post that said 240/40/18's will fit with no rubbing but it didn't give the offset. I have also been told to go to a 17 for autocross since tires are cheaper, but I am not sure there is any other benefit.

Currently my suspension is stock, but I will be upgrading. I have not yet decided on coilovers or just shocks and springs yet.

Hey guys, I am new to the forum, and am picking up my '12 MS3 on Tuesday, and am looking to place an order for wheels in the next couple of days. I'm thinking of Work Emotion Cr-Ultimate or the 11R's in 18x7.5 or 18x8.5 depending which will fit best or if the 8.5 will not stretch the stock tires too much, or maybe i could stagger the set up. I've been reading through the thread and hope I'm not repeating anything, but I am still concerned about my own knowledge on offset- would +38/+47 work without spacers at stock height?

Thanks in advance! And sorry for being fitment stupid.

Just roll your fenders and save yourself the hassle. you don't have to pull them but you'll be able to fit close to an extra 10mm of tire just by flattening your fenders.

dude, you definitely need to read up on fitment. i would recommend 8.5 around a +40 or so. 8.5 will very slightly stretch the tires but nothing that should affect handling. also if you get a lower offset without it being lowered you will have 4x4 status. i always say, lower...then wheels.

what he said. might as well roll. if you want just an autocross setup i would recommend a cheap set of rx8 wheels with 235s or 245s.

I started looking into getting my fenders rolled here locally. The only shop the knew what I was talking about said it is a bad idea because it weakens the fenders and if the tire hits the fender or rear quarter it can rip it out easily. I do not know much about rolling. Is there any truth to this or should I keep looking for another place to do it?

never heard that, i would just roll them yourself. watch a couple youtube videos on how to do it correctly and you will be fine. two people make it a lot easier. take your time and you will only need to do the rears.

where is the rub? inside or outside? front and/or rear? my guess is outside. of course there was no rub before the drop. you may need to trim where the bumper meets the fender or get stiffer suspension. if its up front you may need to heat the fender liner and move it.

235/40 or 225/40. do not get 225/45. you will need to modify the fender.

its front there is no fender liner and i can't tell if its inside or outside. i haven't driven the car much it just noticed it first time i hopped in since the springs "settled".

Alright gents, I read this whole thread hoping someone would have answered my question...

The stock tires on my GenPu are done and to replace them I wanna go with 245/40 size. Yes, I know it will muffin top, but I like it... It will be stock suspension and wheels, according to the calculators it should fit, but what do you guys think?

Dude, thats gonna look like shit.

The tire will be 2.1 inches larger than the wheel. I feel like at this point it would possibly become a safety issue as well. Why not run 235s?

Really, its just because I have a set of 245s laying around. Good point about the 2.1 inches though, I should have paid more attention to the math. Not really good at that unless

i just got into an argument with someone else about running 245s on a 7.5" wheel. yes, it has been done with larger sidewall tires. but i still think it is stupid and not safe. pick up a cheap set of rx8 wheels.

QFT. @AppleJacks If you did it wit say a 50 profile tire, you might get away with it. But either way its still not a great idea.

I dont really understand wheels.

I am looking to run a 17 inch wheel. I am looking at running a 235 or 245 tire with a side wall of 40 or 45.

I am on h+r coilovers, which wheel width would be best for me?

wheels will be 17x(whatever) with a 45 mm offset. When do people start to run into problems with coils and the spring perch?

Well you really need to figure out what size (width) wheel you want to run.

Do you want 17x7.5? 17x9? This will be the biggest factor in your tire choice as well as weather or not you will have fitment issues.

No idea what width would work best for my tire size.

basically, 235-245 with a 40 sidewall or greater is what I need to run. Wheel is 17 inch 45 offset. I can buy whatever width is needed to run those tire sizes. I'd prefer to avoid doing more than a roll and I am on hr coils.

Does a 245 tire fit well on a 8 inch wheel? Do I need a 8.5/can I fit am 8.5 without trouble/spacers on a 45 offset wheel?

Edit - what I'm saying is I'll buy whatever width I need for that siZe tire
