What happens if the wheel bore is greater than that? say 72.6mm? Can I bolt the wheels on if they are raised off the ground and are effectively centered?

Thanks

You need to get a hub spacer then. You don't want the lugs to be what keeps the wheel centered on the hub.

I am looking at getting some new tires for my MS6 (nomods). What will I need to run 245/40 18? I assume I can't mount them on the stock rims (though I have seen mixed info on the required rim width for those. Some say yes some no).

I would recommend an 8.5" wide rim at minimum for 245/40's. Some sites say you can use 8" wide rims, but that narrow a rim and you'll have too much sidewall flex for my liking.

Thanks for the info! On a separate note, my winters are 225/45 18 and I am looking at the Eibach Pro Kits. Will I have any clearance issues on the stock +55 rims?

Hey guys, I ran across this page today and thought I would share: MZ3/MS3 Fitment List

I was searching and trying to figure out which offset to go with in 18x8 for some Weds SA-60M wheels (WedsSport - Weds Sport for Sport Wheels | SA60M) or maybe some Work Emotion CR Ultimate Kiwami in 18x8.5 (Work Wheels :: Products :: Emotion CR Ultimate *NEW 2011*) wrapped in 245/35 or 235/40 with as little to no fender rolling on stock suspension (future 0.5-1" drop on all corners)

anyone wanna help a new guy out, eyes are sore from searching. i put the wheels off my old car on the ms3 1st gen, i need new tires though. wheels are 17x8 +38 offset, tires are 235/40/17 Hankook ventus RS-2.

They look "ok". I am looking at 234/45/17 hankook v12's or ditching the wheels all together, they look good but with the offset they sorta look goofy at certain angles. But if the new tires could fill the gap a little better without rubbing, they could look great.

might need some mud flaps too, the width likes to fling shit.

what would you do? thanks in advance.

update:

been driving on them for a few days, needs a drop bad but i did rub the left rear once already.

LOL. So the 255 is definately a touch wider and taller. .30 taller and .25 wider to be exact. The 245s will have to do for now. I also have a set of 245/40/17 starspecs at my house on some 17x9 grids and the contact patch on the spec is the same as the 255/40 hankook and shorter than both the kooks. Crazy that these manufactors do that with the sizes.

Moral of the story is people need to look at the specs and not base their selection of tire size alone. For instance my buddies 235/40/18 v12s are skinnier than my 225/40/18 federals. Shit just blows my mind LOL
Wow that's an aggressive looking setup I'm glad I did not go 245 was debating for the longest time if I should though then changed my mind about it put an order in for a set of Direzza's at 235/40/18. I'm not aiming to look like a Subaru.

Will an 18x8 +42 with a 235/40 tire fit on stock suspension with no modification needed? If not, would a +45 offset? Possible .5-1" drop in the future.

Thanks.

This is how my Nitto NT 555 extreme ZR in 245/40/18 fit on 18x8.5s. Nice and straight.

If I could get a second opinion that could be great. Gen 2 on stock suspension. I'm looking on replacing my stock wheels with a set of wheels and tires measured at:

18x8.5, +48
245/40

According to the wheel and tire calculator, I'll just be sticking out an extra .6" closer to the fender, an extra .2" closer to the brakes/ suspension, and I'll fill out the wheelwell an extra 8mm.

That should be fine on stock suspension without having to worry about a fender roll or spacers or any other additional modifications, yea? Looking to get a set of AME tracer wheels.

Okay so I know I will need a set of 3mm spacers to clear the hub but I am wondering if I would be able to squeeze a set of 19x9 +47et fronts and 19x10 +30 off of a 350z

Tires are 225/40 fronts and 245/40 rears

google mazda 3 350z wheels...go to images. check those first 5 or 6 and you can look at their fitment and go to the websites to read about them.

You can't possibly fit 225's on wheels that wide. First turn you make you'll kill yourself.

Alright one more inquiry.

Rays engineering 19's that came on the G35

Front-19x8 +30
Rear-19x8.5 +33

I will be having the hubs bored out so no 3mm spacer will be needed

I have seen the 350z 18's with the sme specs fit but I just want to verify.

would be easier than your previous enquiry, but still require a lot of fender work. perhaps the fender wells to be worked on also. also very little tire to protect you from bumps and bump steer. def need of coilovers.

Considering replacing my stock rims on my GEN2 speed3.
I want to run as wide as tire as possible while avoiding any rub. I want to avoid any fender rolling. Car is new and I don't want to mess with the fenders.
If I do lower the car in the future it will be a conservative amout just to improve the handeling. Either prokits or H&R. Something mild.
I would like to run a 17x9r17 with a 255/40/17 tire.
I have my eye on some Work Emotion 11R with a +38 offset.
Also like the SSR type F 17x9r17 with a similar offset.
What are your guys thoughts? Will these rub?
Is there anybody running these rims?

Keep in mind I'm probably going to auto-x the car occasionally.

Thanks for your input

OK I got ya. Is there an offset that will allow this to work? On a stock suspension? Doesn't have to be a 255. I could settle for a 245. Not really entertaining a 235 because it not a big enough change over the stock 225.

Will 18x8.75 +35 offset fit a gen 1 with rolled fenders? I'm on Racelands. I'm not real low, but I feel like I'll be rubbing my strutS

With rolled and pulled fenders, perhaps. It's gonna take some work though.

Your inner clearance shouldn't be a problem at that width/offset as long as you're not getting ridiculously wide tires...

I'm on 18x8.5 +38 with 245/40 tires and I've had to do a roll and a bit of a pull, and on stock suspension I still rub over big bumps (shitty dampers don't do a thing in the back). If you're planning on leveling out your camber when you're dropped you'll run into a bunch of problems, but if you're going to be stretching tires and going with a lot of camber in the back you should be ok with just a roll and slight pull

If I take my helper springs out I don't think I'll rub the springs. I probably have about 1 1/2- 2" from my tire to the spring. It's 225/40. My fenders a pulled a LITTLE. I'm just worried about rubbing my struts. I don't have a camber kit in the rear, I don't think I'd be able to mess with it with +35 anyways.

ill say it again...you wont rub your struts with that offset. you are going to rub fender area with people in the back of the car and natural camber may take care of a little of that. youre also going to be stretched on that wheel so you should be okay over mild bumps. all in all, with a little work that setup should work fine.

So to report that 235/40/18 on my 8" rim with +45 offset rubbed at the rear like mad, stock suspension, as if the tire wanted to break loose from the car screaming for mercy taking a huge punishment from the fender.

I learned the hard way is to stick with the safest most recommended stock size and drop the idea of trying to pull off a look that was never meant to function, not on my car without any mods anyway.

I am running 18x8.5 et 48 with 245/40s on stock suspension...I had rubbing and solved it with a hammer and a rubber mallet. I have only rubbed with 3 large suitcases and 3 people in the car. New shocks and Swft Springs should solve my rubbing issue.

Looking great! I've gone the safest route a set of 215/40 Michelin PS2s and happy without having to modify anything at all. Function over form is my motto.

any pics of this set-up? and did you need to run spacers for clearance?
i'm currious because i'm planning on doing the 17x9 grids with 245/40/17 tires as well.

Have a stock 2007 MS3. Haven't done much to it except intake and motor mounts. Want to do wheels next. I am solo crossing the car. So I want as wide of wheel as possible. I don't mind rolling the fenders but don't want to have to do anything super extreme. I have looked around on a lot forums at what people are running. I am looking at going to a 17x9 rim with a 40mm offset. Then running either 255/40 or 245/40 tires. Can I get away with this? If I put stiffer shorter springs on in the future will I have problems? --THanks

Ok rethinking what I am going to do. I am switching gears and going with a 18x8.5 with +45 backspacing. I am hoping I can squeeze on 255x35 tires with out to much work. Any thoughts on if this may cause me any problems?

you may not clear the struts/shocks with that width tire in that offset wheel, but it will be close at worst. I run a 245/40 on 8.5+38 wheels and had to roll and pull pretty well to get it to work.
