| Not Ranked : 0 score lightly smoking at idle in under 1 minute despite all the fixes (bnoon bolt, occ, ptp pill, occ, 5w40 & raised idle). have 36k miles and the build date was 5/08. i'm near an oil change and hoping the thinned out oil is the smoking culprit. will change the oil this weekend but will take the car in if it's still smoking. my dealer is cool, but i plan to put the stock tune, tmic, tip, airbox back on and take off the ptp pill and bnoon bolt to help it smoke better. i hope they fix this. it will break my heart to stock out and sell this car even though i'll get a new 5.0 with lower payments.

| Not Ranked : 0 score For those who have had the VVT fix done, did it quiet down the startup noise? I had mine done a week ago and it was good at first. Now I have the startup noise again. Not as loud as before, but it's still there. They replaced the actuator and chain on mine so I'm not sure why it would still be making that noise.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Quick update for you guys: I had the VVT and Vent Kit sintalled. Within a day or two, the (what I believe is) camshaft position sensor right next to the fuel pump right next to cylinder 4's coil pack was leaking oil on the head pretty bad. The mechanic said the instructions didn't call for the O-ring to be replaced on that particular sensor, but immediately fixed it. Keep an eye on your heads after the fix!!

| Not Ranked : 0 score Good news for me - brought my car in today to get my wiper motor replacement checked (so I can get refunded the $250 I spent on a new one 2 months before the recall), and they reported a loud timing chain on their own. Free VVT fix for me! And not a moment too soon...just about to roll over 65,000 miles.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Sounds like dealer sucks. Should take the o2 sensor off, pump in a quart of oil into downpipe. If you let it sit 30 minutes and it smokes, drive to dealer and idle it out front with the GM and service manager. Fwiw, video worked for me. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I had to make a stop to the dealership last week for something with the suspension, and when he went to test drive it, my car smoked (1st time ever) they saw it and said that i should be covered, so they looked it up and i am. they just said its gonna take a couple weeks between getting the parts in and there are 5 cars in front of me for the same reason. Guess it was good timing for me..haha

| Not Ranked : 0 score Actually I did take 2 mods off - TMIC and intake. It only takes about 30 minutes to swap them out and reflash back to stock, so I figured it wasn't worth the possibility for future headaches if they decided to take pics.

| Not Ranked : 0 score called the dealer about bringing the car in for the smokey turbo. service manager told me to have my oil change records with me. i have them, but i'm hoping he was just being stern over the phone. can't imagine these guys going 15 rounds over a vent kit. service manager than put me on the phone with one of his reps. this guy said their sop is to install the vent kit and see how it does for 50 miles before moving onto the turbo. i will stock out under the hood and leave the dp so the stock cats can't mask the smoke. if they give me a hard time about the dp, i will stock out, sell her, and go get a new base 5.0 with lower payments and a warranty. it would be a shame since i love this car.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not sure how to straight up post a vid so just click the pic and u will see what my car did today. Then I sent this vid to the dealership that i drove 500 miles round trip to, and this is the email I got back Hello Mr. Epping, I’m sorry on your trip we could not duplicate the smoking concern. The technician tried several times, as well as myself. I rechecked with the technician and he is positive your turbo is ok. It’s not making any noise and if it were in need of a turbo, the smoke symptom would be constant. We appreciate your video. The problem with video, is we can’t monitor the vehicle. We can’t tell if the temperature is cold, if the vehicle is at operating temp, if the vehicle is dumping fuel, or is it an oil burn? These are all possibilities on the Speed3. If we can prove that the vent kit is needed, we also have another issue. We would need the factory intake parts to install the vent kit. We have been able to modify the vent kit to work with some cold air intake kits, but need the factory parts to be sure. I am sorry there is not a closer Mazda dealer to you. I will be happy to provide another free loaner if you have another trip to Denver coming up. Please let me know. Thank you, Kenny Berndt Service Manager Groove Mazda What do I do guys?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Remove top O2 sensor, use a pump and squirt in a quart of used oil, aimed up to the top. Then drive the smoking shitbox to the dealer, idle it in front of showroom until someone comes out or then drive up to the door to service department and smoke them out. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score mine doesn't smoke after being on the interstate so I'll wait till it gets worse. I don't want to trouble with stocking out if the cocksucking villains can't replicate the smoke.

| Not Ranked : 0 score That is the vid i sent to the service manager. Via email And the smoking issue is random. I can go days without it smoking, then in certain situations it will just smoke like it did in the video

| Not Ranked : 0 score My local service manager told me that 'only turbos making noise are being replaced.' Funny, that's not what the notifications from Mazda said. Also, I got the vent kit installed (after riding their asses for three days) with no mention of the CAI that was on the car. It's a MS CAI - Maybe 'some cold air intakes' specifically references the MS intake. Because, you know, Mazda planned for this issue and designed their CAI to work with the not-yet-designed modified vent kit.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Short ram, cai, makes no difference. It's the TIP that gets replaced with the vent kit. All you need is a plug for the intake arm.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I just called the dealer and asked when they were expecting the parts in. They told me that the parts for the VVT fix are on national back-order because Mazda is working on a new revision for the parts to prevent it from happening again. Maybe they're filling me full of crap, but according to them the new parts are going to be ready next month.
