I've seen devastation like this first hand. It's horrible how quickly it happens.

Both the cities I have lived in during my life, Barrie and Sherwood Park, have had tornadoes go right through the city. The Park's was a force 4 back in 1987. Barrie a force 3 in 1985.

As long as the donations are NOT given to the American Red Cross. People should do their homework about them and where your donations actually go.

i grew up in the midwest. i've seen entire cities get demolished by tornadoes.

Most people say they should expect it living in tornado alley. That is untrue. Chances are you will never be directly affected.

I said local. I am looking at food banks, etc. OKC area-based.

This is my good friend who passed away last November, Chris. A 2 week battle with Leukemia took him away at just 39. I am still not over this. He was the best man at my wedding.

His cousin in Moore, just finished remodeling his house, and had an in-ground pool dug last week. Here is his house:


Wife and grandson had to be dug out, but survived. He and I are communicating and I am going to check with him 1) what he needs. 2) If he ha any LOCAL organization we can help support.

In less than 24 hours, 40 members have donated!

DONATION TOTAL: $1,657.49! As of 8:30 AM 5-22-2013!

I am not sure what help Joe needs, but he is ground zero seeing the relief effort. The donations matter. $1, $2. $200, it does not matter.

I will not let the $ go to waste. This will go to good organizations and people affected.
