(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score As I am rebuilding for primarily daily use, I want to retain my balance shaft. As almost everyone deletes their balance shaft from their engine, every search ends with "Just delete it". I am looking in the service manual and it seems like there is a typo on the torque spec and it is indicated in a very strange way. FSM is telling me to torque the BS: 25Nm + 44-46Nm. Why? I understand torque + angle, I don't understand torque + torque. Any help is appreciated! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Tighten all bolts to the first # then to the second #. Do not add the #s . Be sure you have it aligned and shimmed properly also. Or "Just delete it."

That is what I did. I have never seen that instruction before was why I got confused. The shims were stuck on the balance shaft when I removed it, I didn't take them off, I imagine there isn't a reason to re-shim. There are dowels on the BS, is there additional alignment I need to do in relation to the block? Appreciate it! Phil. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score There's the gears that need aligned. There should be marks on them.

| Not Ranked : 0 score It's called a 2-step or 2-stage torque sequence. 3-step takes it another level, like with the head bolts.
